suscribed, i looked into this when the 11s first came out and want to know, i think you would have to take the bottom part of the dash off (where the cupholders and ash tray are) and then the console munts there, seems pretty strait forward to me, for the rear air you would probably have to tap into the ac outlets in the top of the dash and run piping down and back for that...hope it is pretty simple, i dont know where to get everything though so good luck and post plenty of pictures when you decide on it!

 

will definitely post pics if i do it. should have around a $1000 budget which i would think should be enough. running the ac i don't think will be an issue, just need to determine if the lower dash is the same so it will look factory.

if anyone has any hints or suggestions let me know

might have to change out the bottom piece where the fold up cup holders are at but that pops off and you can put the different one in there

 

so it looks like i have to buy one out of a King ranch, since i'm assuming that 2011 is a lariat with the black console?

plan on running by a dealership later this week and compare the two side by side.

anyone have a source to get these parts or will i be stuck dealing with the dealer since its to soon to find take offs

 

yeah your pretty much stuck with the dealer yeah the 2011 is a lariat but the consoles are still black with a the king ranch leather on the lid

 

the king ranches are tan with a brown leather top, i would get one of them and then swap the lid for a black one since i have a lariat with tan interior...the bottom piece on the console is connected to the console so it is all one piece and i would guess that it just slides in there.

 

any info on this, updates?

 

I would like to know as well. I am very interested in making this conversion as the way the 2008 - 2010 is still has me scratching my head.

 

won't be able to go to a dealership until this weekend.

so far looking online, all the websites parts catalogs don't go to 2011 yet so will have to price everything out at the dealership. need to talk to a friend and see if he can get me a discount.

depending on the center console lid cost, i might consider getting a lariat and taking it to a upholstery shop to swap the KR leather onto it if theres enough there.

 

i was looking at them and since my truck interior is tan i would need to order the king ranch one but then order a black lid so that i could have the tan console with the black lid...like this

 

another thought is since the height of the lid is lower profile, but the front looks to be close to the 08-10 lids height, get the black take it to an upholstery shop and have them put your existing tan on it.

 

I got a print out of all the parts involved from a ford partsman. I'll have to see if I still have it.

 

I tell you one thing, I am jealous that you have the option of that new console in your trucks. It wouldnt even come close to working in my '06.

That being said, I want your old console when you switch out! I've been looking for a tan lariat 08-10....so remember me!

me as well, also wish i could add rear AC in it as well (i have an 05). will be nice for the '10 to have it, can't believe it took ford until now to add it.

i dont have a center console now, it is a middle seat , i dont mind to lose the seat for the big console though because i want the full middle and the extra space

 

i am going to have some work done on my stereo so they will have the dash open possibly , i am going to sit in the back and take pictures of what is behind the dash to see what we will be dealing with

 

ill also be going to my local dealer and taking a look at the two trucks side by side, or at least take some pics and measurements

 

didn't get a chance to go this weekend, school is really busy for me. might be able to stop by tomorrow on the way to study. hoping to keep it below a grand, but knowing dealer prices, i think that'd be hard.

 

Alright. Had the day off school today so I went to get my stereo worked on and I also stopped by my ford dealer. Turns out that my dealer doesn't have a single truck with the center console...all work truck single cabs. But at the stereo place I was able to get some pictures of behind the dash so I will post those up later so you know what your dealing with. I did however forget to go and ask the price on the center console itself. Ill try to email a friend at the dealer and ask him for a price on it!

 

dropped by ford today. its in their system he said, but they aren't able to order or get prices yet. looks like it will be a while before it can be done.

what the parts guy said tho was that the console is all 1 piece, so includes everything. don't know if i believe that or not, but i guess i'll have to wait and see.

I have been wanting to do this also. I had the dash apart last weekend re-doing the alarm wiring to make it look factory. Here is a picture, but dont think it will help much.

The wiring was not this bad from the installer of the alarm, I took it all apart to do it my way!!

 

Can I just say that there is absolutely no way I could make myself do this to my truck...however, there is a smudge on the chrome trim right above my message center in the dash that just bugs the heck out of me

I ordered what i think will be all of the parts needed in order to do this in my lariat crew cab. I paid for overnight shipping wich hopefully will be here this week. I will take pictures and do my best to advise to all the actual part numbers needed and what the swap entails. I am sure i will be ordering some more parts and pieces.
