mine has 738000km on it. she has just eaten a lifter. dropping in a 160000km junkyard 04 replacement

 

What do you attribute your 738000KM to?

 

Buy a good monitor and watch it the minute you stop something will get you.

 

the 6.0 has a bad rap.
partly deserved partly not.
are you going to be able to keep up on maintenance on time?
are you willing and able to fix some of the dumb stuff the epa teamed up with ford to do to these motors?
are you willing and able to read up on tricks and tips required to keep a 6.0 happy?
yohu may be a candidate for 6.0 ownership

the 6.0 is like a beautiful high maintenance woman
it will give you little hints if something is wrong
if you have a monitor and are able to listen and respond she will let you off easy and make you very happy
if you ignore her she will press the situation and make things a bit more obvious all while reminding you that had you been paying attention in the first place none of this would have been necessary.
if you continue to ignore her she will make you regret the day you ever met :scared:

yes a 6.0 is like a woman...
it can make you the happiest man alive.
then turn on you and take your friends, family, house, kids, job... you get the idea

My mechanic has put over 300,000 miles on several 6.0s

 

I have an '04 and love it. Yes it requires more work than my gassers to maintain. It's more expensive maintenance wise per mile than a gasser. But when I bought her, I knew what I was getting into (much like my marriage). There are going to be some good days and some not so good days. But I'll tell you this....we never go to bed angry at each other. :smile2:

 

Their all junk , there is no such thing as reliability . These things become a way of life , ever consuming your thoughts and
time . Much like cheap drugs , there are the high times and low times .
But if you enjoy maintaining and living for your truck , buy it .
About the reliability thing . if you want something that will never give in , buy a 7.3 . It's a work horse but the 0 to 60 in an hour gets old .

 

Great comments. Yea the constant maintenance might be too much for me, Probably why I'm over 50 and single. Thanks for the advise.

 

It has been harder the older it gets. To be expected. Heads at 200k, cracked, has been the worst repair. 3 sets of injectors, 1 ficm and 2 oil and EGR coolers. Numerous other routine repairs to of course. Over all I think not that bad, or I wouldn't be putting in another engine right now.
