I have a 2002 Ford Excursion Limited 7.3 4x4. Almost as soon as I bought it I lifted it 4", wheels tires, banks 6 gun, etc. Anyway, I never liked the ride after that, very bouncy! This was about 7 years ago and now we want the stock ride back. I was thinking going back to stock and then adding a leveling kit which is what I do on my other trucks. Also was thinking about going with a 2004 or 2005 axles because I believe they went with coils upfront which improved the ride as well. My other reason I want to go back to near stock is for towing. I upgraded the gears recently to a 4:30 ratio and it completely killed my highway mileage. I'm running 35x13.50's and I was getting around 13-14 doing 75+ mph, now I am under 10mpg with the 4.30's. Wondering how much extra work it would be to find a pair of good used complete axle assemblies with front coil springs, 3.73 and go with a 32 or 33'" tire

? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Definitely plan on keeping her for a while. Have 3 big boys my wife and two big dogs, tried looking at Tahoe and Expedition Max, no thanks. We take many long road trips/ year and just couldn't squeeze in to one with all our crap. Really nice truck overall. New leather and carpet also, so inside is as nice as outside. Just over 300,000 miles and she still runs strong. I'm going to look into the longer leaf springs, and ideas on where to start? Also does anyone know if the 2005 Excursion axle assemblies with the coil springs would bolt right up or will major modifications be needed?
