why would you want a 1000cca?you can get them from jeg's

 

I run 850s why would you need 1000? I bet their expensive.

 

I see that a few people have them on here, and well I can also use the extra power. I have 2400 watt amp in the back, and I have lights on the back of my ex that i turn on when hooking up boats and loading and unloading at night.

I would like to have batteries that i can run those things without the car running for a period of time and not have to worry about killing my batteries.

 

If your looking for a set of batteries for those uses. I would check out a deep cycle battery like the Kinetik's http://www.kinetikaudio.com/default.asp. Or if you dont want to spend that, a set of Optima yellow tops.

Every battery company makes a 1000 amp bat. I run motorcraft comercial 950 amp batteries but they are about 150 bucks a pop Interstate has a line of economy batteries called econo-power.

 

You should be looking at the AMP-hour capacity first...with the CCA rating second. As NOTSTOCK mentioned deep-cycle batteries would be your best bet...they cutback on peak CCA (per given battery size)but deliver on the ability to go through full disharges and recharges without killing the battery life.Deep cycle batteries are generally used in marine applications.

 

This is the best response so far in regards to Jetskier's application. He doesn't have a cranking issue. He needs reserve amp hour capacity. Two different things. If you are going to run a battery down before you recharge it (as in trolling or lights etc in an RV while not running or plugged in) then a deep cycle battery is best for that application. Running a regular battery down and recharging shortens a regular battery's life regardless of its CCA.

 

theres nothing wrong with running 1000cca im thinking about it myself, jetski was not asking for reasons not to run, but to where good prices are!

My brother just bought a reman batt. at the Cont. outlet for around 70. They had 850 for 39. with 1 year warranty.

 

I dont think a optima makes a high cca battery. If your looking for value try Costco or Autozone.

 

cca is what turns the motor over at startup. the reserve power is what matters for running a stereo lights winch and so on. so just look for the batery with the biggest reserve and you'll be happy.

 

Most 12 volt deep cycle batteries are a sales gimmick. They are not true deep cycle batteries. Two good group 65 batteries should run your acc. just fine. If you really want to upgrade your electrical system look at your alternator. If you had room to squeeze 4 6volts so that you could run them series/parallel that would give you some serious amp hours. I have added a link to answer some questions on batteries. I have a Rv and boondock it alot so good batteries are very important.

I don't think you'll find a quality battery at a cheap price. I don't care for Optimas, have had great luck with Motorcraft batteries and have heard excellent things about Odyssey batteries.

 

i know three people that had optima's and dident make it a year, for how much they charge and brag how good they are im not impressed

 

i know we got em at oreillys for around $120. the fleet line

i know optima makes a high cca yellow top that sounds like what you need it think their in there comercial batterys but when i was looking into them they were pretty spendy

 

i got red tops fro o realies on recommendation and after a year and a half...dead
i have had excellent luck over the years from auto zones 1000 cca batteries but they change manufacturers from what i understand.
so interestates? i have had good luck with them as well but cant buy them around here

They're only 2 battery manufactures in the world: Johnson Control and Bosch. The biggest question is who you are getting for the price. Obviously Bosch makes the batteries for German engineered vehicles. At AutoZone, we carry both our Duralast Brand (Johnson Control) and Optima's (also Johnson Control).

That being said, you're only getting one of two manufactures products, just with a different label. It's all a matter of opinion. I have Schwab Batteries in my truck because that's what was in it when I bought it.
