09 with loud squeal / whine at startup

Over this past weekend I installed an intake, sct livewire, and exhaust. The install went fine, started and drove great. The truck sat for a couple of days and when I started it up there was a loud squeal / whine after it turned over. The sound only lasted a couple of seconds then goes away. The sound seems to be coming from the intake area so I took it off and made sure everything looked ok, reinstalled with no luck fixing the problem.

I did take a video on my phone of the sound which I cannot get to upload, even opened a photobucket account and it has been saying "processing video" since last night. Any help would be appreciated it, thanks.

Any luck with the video? Maybe post on utube and link it

I see the waste gate lever move when I hear that sound. Any way it's from that?

That is the vgt actuator, 6.4s don't have a waste gate from the factory.

@toren302 @kaya You guys heard this before?

Only thing I can think of is to move the actuator with your hand with the truck off. It should be stiff but move free and smooth. If you feel any grinding or catching you have turbo issues.

should be ford gold.
try disconnecting the actuator electrical connector and start it up. see if the noise goes away.
it's a little buried down there. there is a locking tab that you need to slide back first. be ginger with the connector

I tried disconnecting the connector on the actuator and the noise was still there. It seems like the noise is coming from the alternator, any chance it can be the culprit? I will have time tomorrow to really look for the issue so any other ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Could try backing the belt off. See if it goes away. Just be careful it doesn't catch and wrap anything.
You can slip the belt over the top idler pulley instead of under. That should give it enough slack to not catch, yet keep it in place without causing issue.
