hey guys my buddy is looking at gettign an 04 or an 05 powerstroke i gave him some info that i know about them. does anyone have any big differences that they know?

Power seems to be a big one for some reason. The 04's run really good. The biggest difference that I can think of, is the badazz coil front spings on the 05 :nod:. A square style EGR cooler on the 05, vs a possible round style one on the 04, depending on the build date. The Round ones were said to be a little stronger :dunno: Some injector problems, again depending on the BD of the 04 That's all I can think of right now. Make sure he gets and Oasis report on each one before making a decision though, he doesn't want to get into a problem truck
yea def go with the 05 they fixed alot of the 6.0 glitches in the newer models and you will also get the newer front end
05's also have larger brakes and could have the integrated trailer brake controller that works really nice!
05 also has slightly updated interior, nicer looking grill and different front bumper. My 04 was more powerful than my 05 (seat of the pants) but did blow the head gaskets at 90,000 miles. So far, so good on my 05 with 125,000.....
Another vote for the 05. Again, dependent upon the oasis report. My dad has an 04 Harley V10 and my PSD is an 05, i like the interior of the 05 better and the suspension difference is a plus, i am running 35s on a leveling kit and nothing else, and i think mine rides a little better. The ride difference could be milage too mine has 92xxx and dads right at 11xxx...

i told him about the front coil vs leaf springs. . but i told him that might not be so bad going with the leaf because he is buying one with a big V plow on it whitch he will use. .( i know also buying a truck with a plow on not such good idea but he dosent have the money to be picky lol)
i knew about the egr but forgot to mention that to him so thanks!
i personally like the 05 and up better as well . . i have the 06 and love the truck. . not so much motor but oh well.
