Hello everyone. How many of you have replaced the front bearing assemblys on your 4wd trucks? Around how many miles did you get out of your oem ones and how many miles on the aftermarket ones you put on. Does any one know when they are recommended to be changed? Thankyou !

Many see 250k plus on the 99-03 7.3ls. there is only one serviceable part on them anyways. A small needle bearing on the back. you add some grease on it or simply tap it out and replace etc. if you have front abs riffraff diesel makes a special grease zerk adapter to use a grease gun vs removing the assembly.

you'll want to stay with Timken or oem or risk the consequences. Many powerstroke owners experimented with cheapies and suffered.

im at 151k and my friends exact same truck as mine is over 250k.

I plan on changing them at 225k regardless though.

Previous owner cheaped out and only replaced driver side around 200k. Passenger side needle bearings exploded and caused the stub shaft to become siezed. Replaced with a Timken around 223k. Stub shafts was okay thankfully and now is all working like it should.

I am using the Diveworks brand from Advanced Auto. I have put 25-30K on them so far no issues, and that's running 35s with 2" spacers.

Are you talking about the ABS grease-able block off fitting ? I just got this truck and I’m looking to do balljoints on it but I wanted to see how long the bearings usually lasted, if they only lasted 150k I was going to get new ones so I wouldn’t have to mess with it again for a while. Have you installed that abs fitting on your truck? Is there just a cap covering some holes if it’s a rear abs only ? If it does have abs in the front, I’m assuming you would take the sensor out and put the part I. And grease then put the sensor back ?

You would order a hub bearing unit for front with abs assuming your truck doesn’t have it. Or just install it every so often to grease the needle bearing etc.
