I got a PM request for some electrical information on the 2002 7.3L. I am going to post up here what I have for the requester and anyone else who is so inclined.

There are 10 or so files. I will attach them over this post and the next. Anyone having a need to respond should wait a few minutes for everything to go up.

The following conditions apply:
  • The files may have already been posted. They are simply files that I have encountered along the way.
  • The files may be redundant to each other.
  • The files may not be completely accurate. I do not have a 7.3. I have nothing with which to check them against.
  • Someone may own these files. If so, they still do. Be sure to send them a thank you note.
  • Someone may have converted this data to electronic. If that is you, take a bow.

The person asking was @GETFURIOUS . Here ya go...

I got a PM request for some electrical information on the 2001 7.3L. I am going to post up here what I have for the requester and anyone else who is so inclined.

I will respond to the above and your PMs here because the answers are probably of interest to others.

No, I don't have a specific 2001 wiring diagrams. The electrical information online for the 7.3s appears to have occured in two waves - 1997 and 2002. There is some 1999 info, also. ...but not specifically wiring schematics.
From what I have read, most people use the 1999 info for the 2001. Not the best, perhaps, but better than nothing.

I saw that you saw the 1999 Workshop Manual that I posted online here (link for others):

https://www.powerstroke.org/forum/9....org/forum/99-03-7-3l-general-discussion/1349899-7-3l-1999-workshop-manual.html

...so that might help. There is also a good simple diagram in the 1998-1999.5 7.3 coffee table book. You can get that here:

Coffee Table Books - Diesel Technician Society

...and there is the 1998-1999 PCED that might be useful:

https://www.powerstroke.org/forum/9...3l-diesel-powertrain-control-emissions-diagnostic-service-manual-1998-99-a.html

There is also some early 7.3 electrical stuff there, although the PCED is - I believe - for the 99+ version 7.3s.

A 2001, from the standpoint of a schematic, is treated as Either a 2000 if it did Not get the mid-tern electrical upgrade, OR a 2002 if it Did.

You can tell which one applies to your truck by simply looking at the Instrument Cluster. The upgraded 2001's have the same cluster as all the '02's & '03's have. It has a Digital Odometer and a Trans Temp Gauge in it...

Cool and thank you for the information. I did not know or realize that difference. That must be one of the differences of that late March build date I keep seeing referenced. I think it's March 26th, 2001. I.e. Lower Radiator Hose ; Before = xxx#; After =yyy#.
Mine has a build date of early March, analog odometer, and no transmission temperature gauge (that I would like) sooo...I guess it's the same as a 2000 then. Thank you for that, sir. You have imparted knowledge to me and for that I am grateful. :thumb:

Hey can I plz get some guidance here . My pride and joy . Started out 96 7 3 powerstroke 4x4 f250xlt. After the last motor I put in was ruined at the GAS pump as I drove away and instantly knowing what had happened went back . They paid me in court 4500.00. to replace my engine with a used 99-03 7.3 powerstroke. I'm thinking the whole time (the last 6 years ) as I begin tearing this truck down to a cab and frame and take a rolling 2000 f350 super duty chassis and change over my axles to straight axles no more wishbone garbage and everything associated with thef350 super.built my own drive lines modifications to the frame just to have a place to mount spring hangers converted new fuel tank front with an electric fuel sending unit and pump all soldered and professionally done to accommodate the fuel system . Have been through every nut and bolt on here . Upgraded 3 1/2 in upgraded turbo with straight 4 in exhaust rt out of the turbo . No more restrictive downpipe. Intercooler and piping all added so I for no other reason then I didn't know till now that I should have gotten wire harness and pcm with the new motor. The 96 harness leaves me with 3 plugs for the fuel bowl no longer in use and a cpl more rt there with no matching plug ins on the engine . I am also lacking most important no iat sensor wiring and the mat same story . Won't run without them being hooked up and programmed in to my new motor. Ok long winded I know but I had to give you a detailed update so mabey someone can instruct me from here the cheapest easiest fix so I can go back to work and finally quit working on this truck . Once it's finished you will see why I have gone to great lengths to do a decent job here . I am designing a new tool box a little different then anything on the market and I hope to sell alot of them "Roadrage" tool boxes . Cross your fingers it all comes together. How can I fix my truck ....new 99-03 engine harness with manual trans 5spd.and a new pcm or ecu or ??????plz help me someone .....

The '02 diagrams are good for 1/2 the '01's (those who got the upgrade, identifiable by the Digital OD and Trans Temp Gauge in the Cluster) and ALL '02's & 3's.

There actually IS no 2001 wiring diagrams, you use either a 2000 and Down or these '02s and Up depending on which '01 you have, these are just what you want for your '03...

Thank you very much. I can't remember what month they quit making the 7.3's and changed over to the 6.0's but my truck was made in March I believe so it's one of the LAST ones for sure. My brother ad I have been chasing a few wiring issues for a few years now and can't find a good diagram so I'll try and use these.
