PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, PLEASE DONT COMMENT

With that said, I am looking for info on the Wide Track(FAT BOY) F350/F450axle. I am NOT interested in the 05+ F450/F550 cab-n-chassis axle
I am looking to put on in a 1995 F-Superduty to make it 4wd, keep my Factory GVW, get a better ride and get a better turning radius.

here is what I know...
-came in 08-10 F350 DRW Pickup, 11-14 F450 Pickup, 15/16 F350 DRW pickup
-RPO was either 67W or 535 depending on the year
-45* knuckles vs the 35* of the standard axle?
-8 on 200mm bolt pattern
-17" wheels
-1-9/16" tie rod diameter at the threads
-10.75" outer knuckle measurement(top to bottom outside)

But that is all the info I have. I think I found one BUT the junk yard no longer has the truck, just the axle and Vin.
is there any telling traits to tell this apart for a regular DRW axle?
Ball joint measurement?
WMS to WMS measurement?
Casting marks?
anything?

Does anyone have one of these trucks that would mine taking some measurements?

Nope that is wrong. 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30 were all available on the F350. Even though 4.30 was by far and away the most common and the only ratio available in the F450 Pickup.
And the wide track axle started in 05 with the F450/F550 cab n chassis

I would love to see some 04-06 F350 wide tracks, it would open up a bigger window to find one

Well I'm not as wrong as you might think since your thinking of gears first, not the whole Tow Boss package.

Ford for 2006 MY applied the "wide trac" front axle (Dana Super 60) to the Super Duty Pickup trucks. It was applied under the "TOW BOSS" package ONLY for the 6.0L F350 DRW trucks with an automatic transmission.

Yes, you might get 3.73, 4.10 or 4.30 gears using the 6.0L, 5.4L, or 6.8L motors and other transmissions. But you would not have the Dana Super 60 front axle...which is/was the "wide trac".

Hence if you found a 2006-ish DRW 6.0L Pickup with automatic transmission you MIGHT find a front axle with 4.30 gears. I want to say the rear axle for that TOW BOSS package truck would have a "finned" aluminum rear diff cover. That's also part of the "TOW BOSS" package. SO finding the 2006 DRW F350 with a rear axle having a finned rear diff cover along with a gear tag, your chances of the front axle being the DANA Super 60 "wide trac" are better than not knowing what to look for.
I do think that these years the DRW trucks were still 8x170mm spacing compared to the newer 8x200mm(SEE EDIT). SO unless you need a newer DRW rear axle as well you would need two different wheels.

I'm providing you info based on YOUR desires to not speak about the C&C trucks. You never mention what 1995 truck you are using.....that's unclear.

Considering you want this for an older truck, widening the potential sources of your front axle is helping.

EDIT: My bad...the bolt pattern was 8x200mm for these years. I guess they changed that from the leaf spring trucks.

In 2006 the F350 nor F450 pickup came with the widetrack axle, so it is a moot point. The wide track "super" 60 did not start till 2005 and ONLY came in f450/550 cab n chassis trucks. I am looking for the widetrack axle that has 17" wheels. Just because it had 4.30s doesnt mean it got the widetrack

Also I am putting the axle into my 95 F-superduty, Like I stated earlier

Whats up Brad ?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, PLEASE DONT COMMENT
unlike some forums we usually let everyone in to discuss a topic

Heavy Calling the sidetrack a super60 is a can of worms also because the designation was also used to describe to 05 up dana s60
I think the easiest way will be to get the knuckle info or u joint number since they are all bigger on the widetrac/fatboy axle
I used to have some images ,, I will dig around

I called it as described by Ford in their materials.

As described in the 2014 F-Series Super Duty Specs on the FORD Body Builders Advisory Service:

Since the 2014 F450 Pickup is the only pickup truck that has this "wide trac" axle....It's clearly identified as Monobeam Dana Super 60 as standard equipment for the front axle on 4wd F450 Pickups.

2016 DRW F450 will be the only truck that has the "wide trac" knuckles for sure.

Now I'd have to double check the Order Guides but I don't recall Ford putting a "wide trac" axle as an option for the DRW F350 trucks.

With all the old history with this "wide trac" axle on the pickups it's been interesting how Ford handled it. I want to say at first it was only F350 DRW trucks could get the Tow Boss package. Then with the body change in 2008-2010 Ford came out with the F450 as a pickup as well.....Ford dropped the F350 DRW "wide trac" while putting it on the F450 DRW pick ups. It's been that way ever since if I recall correctly.

Listed as a 2006 F350: Rear axle listed as 4L, but the GVWR is 13,000lbs

Image

Another 2006: Rear axle as 4N, but has the same GVWR 13,000lbs

Image

A 2007 : Rear axle as 4N with GVWR as 13,000lbs as well.

I would have suspected the Tow Boss package would have increased the GVWR, but maybe it only bumped the GCWR.

For sale in NC:

4.30 gears trending for these "wide track" axles....higher front flare that extends to the edge of the front headlight as well as up higher on the fender, also a small stubby wing flare added to the front bumper....pretty easy to start identifying just by walking up to the truck.

2008-2010 F350 DRW XL-Lariat trucks seem to be a bit more hidden not as easy to spot from the info.
2008 calls out 172" WB....
2010 F350 DRW removed the "wide track" axle option 67W. Moved to standard axle on F450 DRW.
The truck would need to be a solid color ( no two-tone lower paint) 6.4L diesel motor 4wd with black molded running boards.
Axles for these years could be 3.73, 4.10LS, and 4.30LS.

That sounds like a much broader description yet only two years of body style to worry about looking thru. Still alot of trucks to dig thru to find those axles.

Thank you for the knuckle size, that is helpful EDIT::::::::: with the PICKUP wide track axle, it has the same size 05+ knuckle height. Not sure about the 45 vs 35* but I'm thinking it uses the same 45* because of how much harder it turns
I already know what a widetrack front truck looks like. The fender flares are a Dead giveaway. ALL the widetracks came with front flares to cover the 7" wider axle

Well, I picked up an axle this week out of a wrecked truck.

Very interesting info...
upper ball joint to upper ball joint is 59" The same as a F450/f550 axle(SRW and regular dually is 54")
NOW.. The knuckle is only 10.75" like the SRW and standard 05+ dually trucks

from Colo-Duty on the Army (old thread )

this may clear some stuff up ?
The '05-'07 TowBoss had the standard D60 front axle with 8x200mm pattern.
The '08-'10 F350 'Fatboys' and the '11+ F450 Pickups have the wider D60 that I am looking to put in. The knuckles are 45* vise the standard 35*, which allows for the tighter turning radius.

The '08-'10 F450 Pickups have the heavier axles and the 10 bolt pattern. Just like all the F450 and F550 C&C trucks.

Yeah, I already knew that and the 15/16 f350 tow boss also has the widetrack(fat boy)
Wish I still had my 06 F550 axles to compare the knuckles first hand

REAL QUICK measurement on the axle u-joints 5" outside measurement and 1-3/8" cap diameter
The "standard" F350 dually axle measures 4-3/4" onside measurement and 1-3/8" cap diameter

From what it looks like(no confirmation), the pickup widetrack(fatboy) axle is hybrid of a 05+ F450/F550 axle but with different inner knuckles and outers
