It’s a coolant system that cools the fuel and vgt actuator, there is an auxiliary pump on the drivers side behind the fan shroud. You fill it by opening the black reservoir on the fuel cooler and also opening the 8mm inverted hex on the turbo and fill the black reservoir until coolant comes out of the vgt actuator side. You’re to do this while the the pump is running.. ie engine at operating temp.
Thanks, Roccafellas. I'm familiar with the fuel cooler, but not the VGT actuator, or the Allen on the turbo - I'll have to look into that before I refill the system for real.
You may be the person to answer a more elaborate question on this subject. In the many pages of comments I read regarding a cooling system flush procedure, there was some debate regarding the interaction, if any, between that system and the primary system. Some people claimed they are connected, others claim they are separate. They appear to be separate, based on to the schematic I saw in a Ford manual (if my memory serves well, and it often doesn't). In my real-world investigation, they are clearly connected.
My question, then, is WTF? (Interpret/answer that however you see fit.) I just don't understand why they are considered separate systems.
