Verified bad LPOP on 6.0L, questioning a time saving 'Repair Kit'

Hello all...

My lpop is definitely going out. With a pressure gauge hooked up, press fluctuates 30 down to 5 lbs (or less at full op temp) as the engine oil warms up. Inspection of the oil dropping out of the pressure regulator when removing its piston/spring, subtle amounts of very fine aluminum specks can be seen. Yes it's going bad and it's time.

Has anybody here seen or used the TamerX lpop repair kit? It comes with a special "spacer" that covers the gouging on the motor's front housing, and has its own gerotor gears with its billet cover, which eliminates the need to pull the harmonic balancer, replace housing cover, and associated gaskets/seals. TamerX claims a million mile or one year warranty.

The lpop repair kit can be seen here:

Has anybody used this product and what were the results??

You can get a new cover with new pump for $200 more from Ford.

However, if you drove 115 mph nonstop for a full year, you'd reach just over one million miles. Got it, it's a marketing ploy. They should've used a gazillion rpm's instead. lol

You're still going to be pulling the crankshaft pulley
You sure the specks are aluminum?
Duly noted, my mistake on 'cranky' pulley, and yes it's non-magnetic aluminum, finer than grains of salt.

Thank-you to everyone for their opinions. As stated in my original post, when the oil heats-up to op temp (195°F), low base oil pressure starts to drop from 30 lbs down to 5, and down to near zero upon hard acceleration. A few very fine (smaller than a grain of salt) non-magnetic specks (aluminum), came out with residual oil when the press/reg valve was removed.

Upon removing lpop gerotor gears there is mild scuffing and slight grooving inside of both covers. It's simple wear, age, dirty oil, etc., and enough to cause this problem.

I liked the fact that TamerX uses a "STEEL Plate" for the inside cover w/it's own gerotor gears and a front U.S. made cover billet. Frankly, aluminum sucks in this lpop appl, and wanted to see if anyone out there used this product with lasting and desired results.

Haven't found anybody, and I'm too chicken to be the lab rat!

You're still going to be pulling the crankshaft pulley and installing a new seal (with a special seal installer tool). Not going to save any extra work there.

I say tear into it and assess damage first. We need to know what happened, or it'll happen again, this kit would be a Band-Aid at best if the reason for failure is not determined.
