TS 6 Position Chip Questions

I have an 01 7.3 with 217k. Everything is stock and I don't think the tranny has been rebuilt (I just bought it). I was thinking of a TS 6 position. I don't want to spend tons of cash on some fancy tuner but I found a good deal on the TS from XDP.

I wouldn't be blasting around on high horsepower roaling coal or smoking the tires. I am too old for that. Just want more pep in the truck. I'd probably do anti-theft, high idle, stock, 50, 75, 100hp (or similar).

I am concerned that doing this will make it more difficult to diagnose problems. I had one in my OBS and all kinds of bizarre codes would get thrown all the time. I finally decided the chip was interfering somehow as it ran like a dream. I always did the diagnostics in stock setting.
I don't want to put a $200 chip in to blow an engine or tranny or to complicate using torque or car gauge to diagnose problems. I'd probably use the stock and anti-theft settings mostly and high idle in winter and maybe the 50hp for a little more pep.

Am I going to cause more problems than it is worth? Again, 2001 7.3, auto, 4wd, likely PMRs, 217k miles on the ticker, 100% stock.

Buy your chip from @Corey@CNCFAB. He has ts6 chips with php tunes. Way better than stock ts tunes. Worth the extra couple bucks.

PHP doesn't offer tunes for the ts chips anymore.

The hydra is 325 and comes with tunes.

SDK, gearhead, TW all still tune ts chips.

trust me you wont like generic tunes... you'll ruin the transmission all for the sake of saving like $50 bucks on the ts chip... you want to save $50 for generic crap tunes you'll hate or spend $3500 MINIMUM for a new transmission? If you want I can link you to the thread of my transmission ordeal with generic tunes from the hydra... My truck was slipping like crazy and slamming in gears with only 130k on the transmission. some custom files made it shift like never before.
