I have a quick question. I am looking at finally getting the delete down in by the end of the year. Looking around for exhaust which are hard to find now as well. I'm seeing aftermarket Turbo down pipes. Is it worth going with an aftermarket down pipe? Are there any performance gains or is it just better flow and sound? Thanks for the help.

Get a 5” flopro turbo back pipe on ebay. Sounds heavenly.

eBay is pretty much the goto place right now for anything deleting and tuning wise since the epa cracked down on all these big companies. Go look on ebay or I’ll send you what I got exactly. I have a 2014 f350. Same fitment on your year model.

Maybe people running bigger turbos use them, but most light modded stock guys it's not advantageous. IF you happened across one for dirt cheap...maybe snatch it up anyway. I wouldn't pay full retail for one....just not going to really do much of anything.

I like a deeper sound but I'm not too worried about it. My wife gets to drive it more than I do since my 2001 f150 gets better mileage and I'm going back an forth to work everyday. We mainly use it on the weekends and pull the camper with it but it defiantly the favorite truck in the family.

You got to remember Ford changed the way the exhaust exits the heads. I would never had thought it could be that much different but it is worlds away from a old school V8. At idle mine sounds pretty damn good...driving down the road it's not like my old 6.0L for sure.

I did not know that they changed it and I haven't looked at how this one exits. I will pay attention to it the next time I crawl under neither there. This is my first diesel truck and I'm still learning after 2 years and I expect to keep learning something new about them till I can not longer remember. I appreciate all of the comments and help thank you.

The changes are on the motor exhaust manifolds since they are in the valley of the motor. There really isn't any significant changes to the exhaust system after the turbo.

You stated you wanted more sound. Even on a straight piped truck the 6.7L isn't sounding like the older trucks. I could hit the pedal hard on my 6.0L which gave out a NICE rumble and tone when running down the road. This 6.7L just doesn't sound the same to me when driving the same way.

I second that. The 6.7 is very quiet. I’m straight piped and cut out before the resonator. The most noticeable sound is from the waste gate. Most folks say it sounds good. I do get a little droning in the cab in 5th gear when towing. BTW, I left the resonator and stock tailpipe tip in place to keep the stock look.

What do want out of your exhaust system? Loud? Quiet? Straight pipe?

Granted, I'm an older guy, but I can't stand the sound of my 5" downpipe-back system.
Way to loud and too much drone...and I have a Donaldson 40" muffler with a 20" resonator!!

If I were to re-do my system, I would just get a 4" donaldson muffler to go in place of the DPF/converter.

The stock tailpipe with the resonator over the axle keeps the sound and drone down much better.

I want to keep the stock look as well. I don't want super loud but the droning helps to put the kids to sleep on long trips. My F150 drones with the exhaust and the kids say they like that sound. I would like a something in the middle of the road not too loud and not too quiet.

I’m running a stock down pipe, 4” mid pipe with muffler, and 5” rear section. Louder than stock for sure but the SO (who is always commenting on anything to do with the truck) didn’t mention “noise” when she was in the truck after the work was done. At cold idle in the mornings it’s got a rumble to it, but it’s relatively tame after that unless you romp on it. I’ve only had compliments on the sound when pulling up to the pump etc...
