Hello everyone my name is Chris I just took on. A 2008 6.4 that had a bad rocker arm on my number eight cylinder replaced the bad rocker arms an figured while I was in there I would replace injectors an glow plug so I did so all the parts are totqued to spec.changed oil an oil filter an decide to change fuel fitlers as well but like a dumbass I put orilleys fuel filters I it ..now before I change the old fuel filters the truck would start but was slow to start like fuel pressure was low but did run once I changed filters it started up an died bleed air threw top hi ptesuter side of fuel cooler ..no start so pull those fuel filters an replaced with Ford motor craft filter it fired off one time 10 seconds an died ..so bleeded system for three days still got air ..still not starting but I us notice that if I spin engine over an stop an then open hi side of fuel cooler I have air for like 30 second streight the fuel with air bubbles all in it ..bleed it until it looks air free turn over engie trig to crank same thing no start. Cylce key a couple time an bleed hi side of fuel cooler it streight air again ..cylce the fuel system again getting clear fuel looks bubble free same things happen any idea what's going on I need advise bad need this truck to make a living please help

Did you tighten both filter housings and have a good amount of fuel in the tank? I also assume you did the purge procedure which is turning the key on and off 8 times and holding on 10 seconds for each like the manual says correct?

Yes I have someone told me that if I did not tight value covers in a star like pattern that the value cover house would suck air in u ever heard of this .have bleeds system many times still fo air in lines as soon as I think I got all the air out I turn engine over an there is streight air again coming from him side of the fuel cooler

It’s going to have air til it runs for a bit. The shrader valve on the fuel cooler, have someone crank the engine while you intermittently hit the shrader valve letting air out of the system. It takes a lot of cranking generally before they’ll start. So crank in 20 second intervals. Did you replace the jumper tubes on the injectors. Idk wtf someone told you about valve covers.

As one who has pulled a dumb-*** brain fart and run my truck out of fuel, I can tell you this about bleeding air: 1. bleeding air at the schrader valve at the fuel cooler will not get the air out of the fuel lines. You will need to crack the fuel lines at the valve covers on both sides. 2. Excessive cranking trying to bleed out air will kill your starter. and most importantly...3. You run the risk of killing your HPFP as well trying to bleed air. Getting to the fuel lines at the valve covers isn't too bad on the drivers side but the passenger side is a PITA. If you are bleeding air, that's what I would do (and that's what my diesel shop did). They said it typically takes them (the diesel shop) about an hour to bleed air, so there's that too. My mistake cost me $700 and I was lucky to not have to replace my HPFP.

FWIW...

This is how I do it. I've done it prolly a few hundred times. Remove the schrader valve, attach a 1/4 inch hose to to it, ( my hose has a clear section in it), put the hose in a jerry can, crank it over and let it run for a couple minutes, it should be good, if not you have a problem most likely between the engine and the pickup
