Just ordered a train horn for my 17. Has anybody used the factory horn to trigger the train horn? If you have where did you hook into? I plan on using an upfitter switch to be able to toggle between the regular horn and train.

I thought train horns ran off air. I had a friend who owned his own truck (big rig) and he installed a train air horn. Loud as hell! And, he said he could only 'honk' it so long before it made a serious dent in his onboard air brake system. So, what kind of train horn are you thinking about?

As an aside, I don't even know where exactly my horn button is! I know it's on the steering wheel, but . . . :frown2:

How did your install go? I thought to use the same kit on my 2021, but Pete at Kleinn wrote me "It won't fit the 2021 F350 with the diesel intercooler, you will need the SDKIT17-734STL, the horns go in place of the spare tire on this one since they don't fit up front."

I'm hoping that Ford did not move the intercooler for 2020 and there is space, but did the kit work on your earlier truck?

On my 03 I ran a wire to the wire that fed my horn and used a tap. Then hooked it to a switch, and also hooked my air valve solenoid wire to it. Basically regular horn is on, then flip the switch air horn is on 😉. All you need to look up is where your horn is, mine was inside the fender on passenger side, not sure on yours.

Boy, that's quite the horn setup. And, looks like once you you get your air tank set up you can use that air for all sorts of other things. Cool. Good luck with it.

I installed train horns on my F450, I learned that there is very little room under these trucks when you have the power running boards. I wanted to put my Union Pacific horns from my 14 F350 on my 19 F450, but there is NO room for the 6 gallon air tank and the horns. I ended up putting on this kit from hornblasters that uses the spare tire winch and raises up into its area.

So what did you do with your spare tire? Carry it in the bed now?

I had to separate my horns from my rank and it all fit under and beneath my front bumper ranchhand, and I did wear mine to the actual horn and use an upfitter switch to toggle between my regular horn on my truck to my Kline airhorns I also ran to air chuck‘s the come out from underneath both sides the front doors for any air I may need for tires or in a ratchet or whatever. I like it a lot.

Wow, I'm surprised you were able to get the K5LA on there, I didnt think there was anywhere near enough room

Not sure if anyone else has done it but I have a tool box in my bed so mounted them under it for the time being. I will eventually make a box and put them in the space in front of the rear tire. My compressor is in the toolbox as well but when I move the horns then I will make a box and move the compressor as well.
