I've used the DTC scan menu many times on several vehicles and never had any issues. This is interesting.

 

It wouldn't be the torque pro app. It would be a problem with the adapter if there is something fried. The app is only able to query the device.

 

You can't "fry" modules through the OBD port I don't think...

Something else is wrong.

 

I don't know if you can fry it, but I know that is you use a cheaper Bluetooth to obdII adapter it will randomly kill the motor though. I stopped using my torq pro after it would kill the motor while changing pids to monitor. I was able to change pids before starting, but if I changed while running it just killed it flat out.

Have you disconnected batteries for a night and tried running afterwards. Also uvch's are finicky... open the valve covers and check the connections.

 

If I use Torque App and try to scan for codes with the motor running it kills the engine. But certainly not going to do any damage to anything.

The "Something Else" I mentioned might well be something like the UVCH plug having got "shaken" harder than usual when it did though - could see that happening (or any of a 1/2dz connectors or chafe points).

 

My fuel level connection drops every couple of weeks and generates a code that I scan and clear. Never had mine do that.
