Sounds like a steering wheel or clock spring issue to me.

We laugh...but the first fix was Turn truck off, Open Driver door, close door, restart truck...door, window....same thing right?🤣🤣🤣

 

Try disconnecting the battery positive terminal.
Wait 30 seconds or so then reconnect.

it will make the radio reset.

 

I posted before, but can not find my original post. The Voice Comands on my SYNC system stopped working a couple months ago. I did all the online options for a non mechanic. Pulled fuse, reset etc. . . Finally got an apt at FORD and had a diagnostic.
They are saying my AIPM is bad? $1200 to replace. I really want it fixed but the more I read, the more I am curious. My radio works, my phone connects, the bluetooth and navigation all seem fine. CDs play and calls come thru and go out. Only issue is voice commands.
No one seemed to have much info in my prior post.
Any experience with this?
I also have a warning light (also checked at the dealership) for the heater on my exhaust system, so I have to take it back to have that replaced (its under the warranty).
My only reason for question is because on the estimate, it says "radio problems". I don't have a radio problem. . . so any help?

 

I just went through a similar issue on my 2012. One of my batteries died on startup, at the same time, the NAV system was booting up, I believe the low voltage caused the sync files to get corrupted. I tried the master reset (would not complete the reset), pulled the fuse on the NAV system (did not fix it, still would not dial out using voice commands). Went to syncmyride.com, entered my vin# and downloaded the availabile file and did the software update per instructions. This rewrote the corrupted file. System/voice command for phone working again.
