Are you guys running coaxials or components up front? If components what size and where are you mounting the tweeters? Anyone fit 6x9 in the rear?

i run a set of 6.5" components. I made an adapter plate to fill in the gap left from the factory 6x8. I got a set of 08+ sail panels that the factory tweeters mount in and modified those to fit. you can fit 6x9s in the rear but you would have to do some metal trimming. I stuck with some 6x8s in the back and also run an 8" sub behind the rear seat that little extra bass.

I also did 1" tweeters in the stock panel. I'm using stock door speakers, and I'll always say the stock ford speakers on a good deck are tough to beat for mids.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions but I've gone through many sets of high end mid drivers (even full range) and they simply can't justify the cost, a properly filtered and powered stock ford speaker (as a mid range) of course you need to add subs and highs to complete the spectrum.
Just a little background, I used to build and compete in usac.

Audio is a lot like a hot rod you can throw all the high dollar parts at it you want.....but in the end tuning is where it's at.
Anyone who has listened to my past systems (including well respected builders) Noone would ever believe the mids were stock.

You know what your absolutely right and Im a good example of that. I always build a big system and never take the time to truly adjust everything the right way. I usually just adjust the eq to my liking and call it the day:tard: So portcity would you mind PMing me some tips on soundstage and adjusting my amp the right way?

I built a box already for 2 sundown sd3 10's. Their supposed to be one of the best subs you can buy with a low mounting height. Im just gonna runs a set of 6x9 coaxials in the rear for fill and a set of components for the front but Im starting to wonder if a set of good coaxials will be fine for the front too.

I personally prefer separates, you can manipulate the sound better.

Oh and rock on dime, you're truly missed! :punk: Pantera was practically a local band here when they were coming up

I have had the JL C5-570CSI and ZR-650 and they are both very nice sounding components.

C5-570 are 5X7 with 3/4 silk tweeters. These are as good as they come for a 5X7 component.

ZR-650 are 6-1/2" with 1" aluminum tweeters and they are more accurate then the C5 set. The highs are much brighter and crisp and don't roll off on the highs like a silk tweeter.
Both sound great but if you want a more accurate precise sound go ZR.

Today I have Dynaudio components in my doors. Still have my ZR-650 speakers they are keepers for sure. Will use them again somewhere :)
JL makes nice drivers.......

My stereo is a 6.0L and my speakers are 5" stacks with a Stage 2 tweeter. I like listening to the sound of power!

I put mine in the door panel itself. I had different tweeters with stock door speakers and it sounded ok. The stock passenger speaker blew so i replaced them with cheap components and it sounds way better
