SCT X4 Tune Recommendations for a 2015 6.7L

Afternoon all!

I purchased my SCT X4 tuner from Innovative diesel for my 6.0L along with the "Street" tune that they offer. It did great with my rig, the MPG went up about 1-2 and the get up and go was so much better than the factory setting.

Since I traded in my 6.0L, I was thinking about using my SCT X4 again and buying some tunes for my 6.7L. I figured I would go with Innovative Diesel again since I liked their tune from before.

My question is, are people who get tunes for their 6.7L noticing any differences? I'm not looking to hot rod my rig, I'm looking to possibly gain a few MPG and some HP as well just like in my 6.0L. Any suggestions other than Innovative Diesel?

I have heard from some people who own 6.4Ls that tunes don't really help much. I just didn't want to pay for these tunes, then not get anything out of them that was worth the price. Thanks in advance for the input!!

My 6.7 is running the SCT X4 with Innovative (from Mike at No Limit Fabrication). I typically run the normal street or hot street tune...never the race tune. I haven't noticed any MPG gains with my truck, but I tuned for basically two main reasons...to delete everything and to have a nice sounding exhaust. I try to drive my truck responsibly so it lasts the longest amount of time without expensive repairs.

I heard Innovative had some issues with Uncle Sam though...I'd call Mike and ask what he thinks for your scenario. Or PM him at bigrpowr on here.

I haven't deleted anything yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to, still on the fence. I live in CO, so there are emissions tests, but I'm good until 2019. Do people with State required emissions just put everything back to stock then take it all apart again when done? It just seems like a PITA to me.

I use an SCT Livewire TS. Just make sure you update the software and once you interface your SCT to the new 6.7 it may require some additional updates (back and forth) before you get the right tune package on the device.

I also have a set of PIP tunes. I only running the towing tune, but honestly the PIP tune was weak compared to the canned SCT tunes. I believe only SCT makes use of the transmission tuning capability whereas the PIP is only a motor tune. So the canned SCT tunes feel more powerful because they're manipulating the transmission operation in addition to the engine tune.

My bottom line; I prefer the canned SCT tunes better than the custom PIP tunes for the 6.7L platform. I honestly feel I've wasted my $$$ on the PIP tunes. I would recommend you update your device and try the SCT tunes before investing in a custom tune package.

I had 5 Star tunes with my SCT X4, trans tuning was MUCH better than stock. I had 5 Star on my Ecoboost as well, no complaints there either. Great customer service in both instances. If I was going to do an emission complaint (non-delete) tune, I’d be taking a hard look at 5 Star. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a negative review of their tunes or service.

Some tuning companies may not know how to maintain the EB use.
Tow Haul use should not be a problem when running tuning files.

I would suggest trying either the EB or Tow Haul or them combined before loading up the hitch. That way you know the functions are working without no surprises.
