Sct x4 disappointed

I ordered the x4, loaded the towing tune on 2016 f350 6.7, before the truck was averaging 14 mpg after tuning went to 7mpg? Same trailer same loade (skid steer). Didn't notice much difference in power either.
On my 2015 f350 I used a banks autominder which did make a difference.
I tried the street tune to see if it was different and there wasn't.

I do not want to delete I normally get a new truck every year. I had them find me a 2016 as I wasn't not sure I want d a aluminum body just yet.

I was driving while typing above,
I guess I was asking a question in a round about way, is this the normal experience with this programmer? I was hoping to just have more response on the throttle, be able to change he tire size to get the speedometer correct the tires I put on are actually about 3/4" smaller but wider and the speedometer was off about 4 mpg and to remove the top speed limiter nothing like trying to pass when the speed limit is 80 and you limited out at around 92 with the smaller tires closer to 88.

This truck sent used every day to pull a load mainly on the weekends for personal stuff, but you can imagine my surprise just getting the programmer on Thursday, updating it and program my truck Friday to head out of town and giving it about 75 miles waiting to see if it would change but stayed 7.2 to 7.5 mpg. I finally pulled over at a Bucky's and changed it to street mode just to see and it actually dropped down a little so I pulled back over and went back to stock.
It jumped up to 10 to 11.5 mpg. Where I was around 14 before.
First I contributed that to the tire size change then relize going back to stock that was no longer changed in the computer.

I also sent a message to sct but no response as of yet.

Be sure to hand calculate if you are not already doing so. The read out can be inaccurate, and an aftermarket tune may throw it off even more.

It could also very well be the canned SCT tunes. They are far from perfect and usually leave a lot left on the table. People are normally much happier with custom tunes (such as what we offer). While we cannot guarantee a mileage increase, it is pretty common to see a slight improvement. You will normally see a reduction in regens running our tunes as well.

If you are interested, check out our SCT custom tune options here...

This needs to be moved to the 11-16 section.

Definitely worth getting a "custom" tune.

Another issue is everytime you flash tune the transmission has to relearn, so it not going to respond consistently for a while. I've had it take upwards of 1000 miles before it felt totally relearned.

I hope your not typing while towing a skid steer doing 80...

I can see what your saying about a custom tune, however this may just be me but I think at the very least the tuner should come with a decent tune when you purchase it.
I'm not saying anything spectacular but at least a tune that doesn't downgrade what it has from the factory, what is the point in that?
I was thinking which ever tune I chose from two, street, or performance it would be maybe a little noticeable power and even if the mpg stayed what they were stock that would be exceptable. But cutting the mileage in half is something that to me just isn't exceptable.
I have reached out to SCT three times now using there website and have not received one reply. Before purchasing there wasn't a problem getting a reply.
Again I am not the one that cares to make a racer out of the truck and not interested in doing a delete, I put around 80k a year on my truck and get rid of it so I am keeping it simple.

You would think so, but canned (preloaded) SCT tunes suckkkkkk. Horrible power, shifting, and milage.

Custom tunes on the SCT platform are the way to go. I recommend the 35 horse heavy tow tune from DP Tuner...for $180, I think its what you're looking for. Better milage and a nice small bump in power.

If you only gain 1 mpg your saving $833 in fuel at $2.50/gallon in 80k miles. Likely you will gain 1.5-2 with a good tow tune and they drive way more better than stock.

If the tuner cost you 400 + 180 for the tune your still saving.

Should they come with better tunes? Yes, but then where is the need for a custom tuner, which is the beauty of the platform.

Custom tunes is the only way to go, I purcahsed my sct with 4 custom tunes already loaded. For the few days I was still on stock tires I was averaging 20 highway deleted

I will suggest the 50HP LightTow/Daily from DP-Tuner if you are towing less than 10K. I have both and, while I like the Heavy Tow, the Light Tow is just more fun.
