Finally got around to deleting my truck today and when I finally finished and went to load a tune I get this device comm error. Anyone else had this problem?

Did you make sure to update the tuner?

I also had that issue one other time and had to send thebtuner back for warranty work. They rebuilt it and sent it back free of charge.

Shoulda woulda coulda.

Put it back to stock, when you get your tuner back load the tune BEFORE you turn any wrenches. Once it loads and starts then shut it back down and remove components.

Hopefully you didn't do the EGR and just exhaust. that happened with my 6.4, it is frustrating, but I learned my lesson for my 6.7.. do as other poster said load everything first when you get it back!

I'm not going to argue that it "should work out of the box", but **** breaks for no reason every day. The attitude of I paid x for this thing, it ought to be perfect seems contagious.

You also bought the cheapest tuner option and are attempting to do something against Federal Law.....

I dunno, but here's what worked for me..

Take the 4 screws out of the back..

Carefully pry apart the two halves. There's a screen ribbon connector with a slide in clip in connector thingy. Disconnect the screen. The slide clip is easy to put back in place and so is the ribbon connector. You'll see..

Flip the unit over.

Replace the CR2032 battery with a new one.

Pry up the tape over the SD card holder.

Slide the holder toward the top of the unit and it'll pop up & open.

Take out the SD card and make sure all the connectors are clean & pretty

Put it all back together..

Plug it in..

Send me a Thanks if it works. Saved me $100 and "7-10 Business days..."

Just had this error. Sct told me $100 to fix. So I happened to stumble upon this post. I did exactly what you said and - no more error! It does say unable to read truck info but there was an update that is currently being downloaded to it. Hopefully this works and saves me $100 and a week without my truck.
Thanks!

It just amazes me they would charge $100 to change a battery and make sure the SD card contacts are good if that's the actual issue.
