First oil and Motorcraft filter change on the 6.7 2023 leftover, oil Changed at 3k. 15 qts didn't even reach halfway on the dipstick. Looks like 17.5 fills it right up to the top of the cross hatched area. Anyone else put 17-17.5 qts in to get it to the full mark, or just put 15 in and it's not even at the half way point?

The maintenance specification for a 2023+ Super Duty with a 6.7L is 15 quarts. Same for the Medium Duty 650-750

From Bullet proof diesels site...

The 6.7 Powerstroke's oil capacity is 15 quarts if your Ford F-250 to F-600 was produced after 2022.

Those from 2011 to 2022 should hold approximately 13 quarts. A Ford F-650 or an F-750 from 2015 to 2022 can hold up to 15 quarts,

but 2023 models and later with a 6.7 Powerstroke have an oil capacity of 17 quarts.

They do not. Capacity is 15 quarts. Think you should check the owners manual.

I've seen this in several social media groups. Obviously, Ford messed something up. How do we know that the dipstick is the problem as opposed to wrong information printed in the manual as to capacity? Has anyone seen anything solid from Ford one way or the other?

If it's halfway up the dipstick at 15 quarts, why bother messing with anything? If the engine takes 15 quarts, that's fine. If it takes 17, having 15 in it is fine. As long as it's in the ok range on the stick.

My first one will be coming up in a few weeks. I just bought my truck 2 weeks ago new. Currently, it is sitting right in the middle of the normal range on the dipstick. I plan to put 15 in and see what it says, but was hoping to find the answer before I do the change.

On FTE, zoodad shows part numbers. The upped capacity IS THE dipstick length. I would think it would start to overdressed the crankcase and cause leaks or start hitting the crankshaft at some point. Ford being Ford, probably just pulled this out of their tail. I don't think adding two more quarts to a 11-22 is a good idea. If they changed NOTHING but the stick on the 23+ I'm sure Ford took an UNEducated guess. I'm not sure I think it's wise.

I'm not saying Ford is the 2nd coming of the Lord almighty. But.... I find it hard to believe they would just drop in a stubby dipstick all willy nilly.

That would be normal. It isn’t necessarily supposed to be at the top of the dipstick, but the issue is ppl were saying it isn’t showing up at all.

As an update to this, I did my first oil change last weekend. I put 15 qts in. I have the “AB” dipstick, allegedly the wrong one. Yet, when I was done, the oil registered right in the middle of the dipstick as it should. So, I’m not quite sure what the issue is with everyone saying it’s the “wrong” dipstick.
