Hey all -
So I just stepped up and got a turbo-back 4" MBRP exhaust, with muffler that I plan to install. Should I expect it to be louder than the walker BTM I have in my stock exhaust?
Should be cake to install, just need to wrestle with the downpipe.

Thanks -
Scott

Scott: My MBRP is really no louder then stock. It might be a bit louder @ 65 mph and higher. Never had a Walker.

Very easy with 2 people. Use a Saw Saw to cut the down pipe at frame. Very easy to remove.

Old exhaust very easy to remove. Use some type of lubrication spray on all hangers.

New MBRP exhaust fit perfect! Very easy install! Just take your time!

Wiped down with brake cleaner and applied 6 coats of high heat black paint. That was 4 years ago. Still looks like new. Love the sound. 7.3L seemed to really like this upgrade.

If your looking for a louder, deeper sound, i had a 5" magnaflow exhaust added with a 6" tip and boy does it sound GOOD. I do although miss the 03 turbo i had, you could here that thing whistle a mile away. lol

Well, I used to run with a straight pipe then it got a little loud for the wife when driving around in town. Then came the walker. I wanted to go the real deal on an exhaust so it will breathe better and lower EGTs, but I would like it to be a bit louder than the walker. I guess I'll see, I kept considering buying the muffler delete pipe for the mbrp system but I assume that a straight 4" system would be louder than a straight pipe in stock exhaust, but man it would sound good.
Thanks for the tips on the install, I plan on hitting the hardware with some penetrating oil tomorrow and really let it soak in.

it will be louder and deeper.
my dads diamond eye with muffler sounds great.

Just finished the muffler delete today on my 4" dual MBRP's.

I drove all yesterday with the exhaust removed before the muffler, it sounds insane!
Turbo is insanely loud!

With the tailpipes back on, it idles normally but you can hear the turbo whistle at idle, so awesome haha

i dont think he will lose much whistle if anything he will gain some.

everything in the system is larger less constricting including the muffler.

No, the BTM is Not straight though like the MBRP. Forget the fiberglass (I don't know where you got the theory the it "absorbs" HF,,,,) it's Open/Straight-Thru nature will always let more "noise" (hi/low Freq.) than a closed-looped muffler.

Also, the MBRP fits like crap! I like mine very much (w/muffler), it doesn't drone on the HiWay and still has some rumble to it. BUT it required a lot of "fidgeting" to get it in right. Stuff wasn't welded where it was supposed to be...

Exhaust gets here tomorrow so I tried to cut the down pipe without a sawzall...I tried with a pneumatic cut off wheel and that was a total no go! Guess I'm adding a tool to the collection tomorrow afternoon.

i didnt have a sawzall when i did mine, i had to use a pneumatic cut off wheel

try disconnecting the downpipe first that might get you a little more room to cut it.

but when i did my dads i used a sawzall
a sharp blade makes a big difference.

Well, picked up a good sawzall and a few blades and wow what a difference in how easy it was to cut everything out. I also tried to do the downpipe by myself but that was a joke even with a jackstand and some wood blocks. I convinced the wife to go out in the rain after dinner and help push it up into place... took like 5 mins with her help. After that the darn thing nearly put itself together it was so easy.

As for sound - I don't have my down-turn tip yet, it's on it's way... but it sounds NICE and it really did deepen up, plenty of turbo singing too. I can tell the difference in the way it drove too, butt dyno gives it :thumb: and I only took it on a short victory ride once I installed it. Glad I finally went with the real deal, EGTs can take a hike.

ya the downpipe is a little hard to do by yourself lol.
