I just mounted a HAM radio in my KR. I mounted it inside the center console. After much soul searching, I did drill a hole low in the side of the console for the antenna cable. It is hidden pretty well. The cable drops straight down and goes under the carpet at the seat belt mount. Goes out through a vent in the back of the cab. A Comet antenna is mounted on the front of a roll up bed cover, and flat strap grounded to the chassis. I bought all the goodies and stared at them for months. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I used the power that was already in the console. It is now my hunting base station radio.

anyone use one of those steel plates that mounts to the 3rd brake light, so you can have magnetic mounts?

Not sure about it, don't know how it'll look on my ruby red F450.

Wondering what others are doing for mounting the antenna?
I hope you haven't bought one of these because they are NOT steel. They are aluminum, so magnetic mounts won't work on these. I just went from an '02 work package to a '17 Lariat, so trying to figure out how to get my CB in a good spot too. Good luck!!! I hope you have yours in and happy with it by now.

I have no idea how to post a picture on here, but I mounted mine standing up vertically just in front of my center seat. It's set high enough I can still use my bottom cup holders, and reach the latch button. The power is run under my pedals up high and it if the door from straight to the battery. My antenna coax runs under the driver's seat, through the frame and up onto the top of the headache rack (CM flatbed) dead center.

I LOVE having my radio back finally after 2 years without it!

Oh, I run a Galaxy 33HML

Strictly CB. My husband and I own a construction company and travel several hours regularly in separate vehicles. Our radios are much faster and more convenient than cell phones, as well as never having to worry about not having signal.
So your truck is one of the older Lariat's that does not have a center console?

No, its a 2017 F350 Lariat that my (now ex)husband and I had custom ordered from Ford. I have the older style fold up center console/seat instead of that big *** stupid console.
Oh, ok. Thanks.

Since these posts are months, years old, as anyone mounted a radio in a truck with the full console? I suspect I will be forced to mount mine on the left side of the console, aligned with the go pedal.

If you have a full console, you’re too posh for a CB.
just kidding.
I would probably go for right side to avoid pedal use interference.
If it’s small enough, you could do something on the ceiling/ headliner too.

Following this thread and thanks for that one picture of your install. I have a 2016 F250 with a full console and a sunroof. I have the console vault option and would like to keep that option available. I hope others have a success story here with their installation.

Great idea but that area is the wife's space. Handbag, current knitting project, etc., occupy that area. I have struggled with this for months, and will simply do with the left side of the console. Next task is figuring out the aluminum body and antenna incompatibility.

It is a rather frustrating cab to mount a radio in. I installed a Builtright mount in the center dash top. It could be used for the CB if you don't mind staring at it. I put a power port and a USB charge port there and use the mount for my RV GPS and rear view camera on my RV. There is plenty of room to have the coax between the power ports.
Where did you add the power supply??? Can u add a pic my email is billyj571@yahoo.com Thxs

I need to get a CB radio but have no idea where to mount it. On my '02 I mounted it on top of the dash over the radio, however there seems to be a speaker there now and a deep junk tray. I can not mount it overhead as I have the sun/moon roof. Any ideas?
They make a pate/adapter for the top of the dash however you have to be careful removing it with the plastic clips and drill holes I didn’t like it tho and chose the passenger side console with gorilla double sided tape on the 19 platinum I’ll have to look where I got the kit from but I know I bought it. Also was for the smaller Stryker Cb.
