mounting a CB radio?

I need to get a CB radio but have no idea where to mount it. On my '02 I mounted it on top of the dash over the radio, however there seems to be a speaker there now and a deep junk tray. I can not mount it overhead as I have the sun/moon roof. Any ideas?

I got one in my truck, because I started spending a lot more time on the road, and I have gotten helpful info from truckers, as well as listening to them b!tch about stuff when traffic is backed up

I'm planning on the Cobra 75 as well when my 18 shows up. The vast majority of the time in my truck I won't use the CB at all, but when I am using it I will be using it frequently so I'm hoping I can come up with a good place to hang the mic. On my wife's Wrangler we were able to buy a deal that hooked into the factory stereo for the CB. Basically on Rx it cuts out the music and plays the CB transmission, and on Tx it cuts out the music so there's no background noise. Pretty neat setup but they don't make one that works on these trucks.

Also hoping to install a Ham at some point. My 18 will have the console, so I'm hoping I can find enough room there to stash the additional equipment. Would like to put both antennas on some type of folding mount in the bed too.

It is a rather frustrating cab to mount a radio in. I installed a Builtright mount in the center dash top. It could be used for the CB if you don't mind staring at it. I put a power port and a USB charge port there and use the mount for my RV GPS and rear view camera on my RV. There is plenty of room to have the coax between the power ports.

I have one planned. Along with 14 switches and 2 gauges, where the overhead console is.

If I can ever get off my butt and do it. Since I have no garage, it's all dependant on good weather.

The plan.......rip out old/factory console and then make a form using some wood and hot glue. Once that is done, I will drape fiberglass netting over it and form it and spread resin on it. Once it dries, I'll lay some more fiberglass mat onto it and resin. Then I will trim the fiberglass, bondo, and sand.

Once that is done, I'll paint it. Then I will screw on the custom panels I had laser cut, then install all the switches, gauges (for air bags and tank), and the CB.

I have it pictured in my head, and I'm hoping it comes out as good as it looks in my head.

anyone use one of those steel plates that mounts to the 3rd brake light, so you can have magnetic mounts?

Not sure about it, don't know how it'll look on my ruby red F450.

Wondering what others are doing for mounting the antenna?

We use something like this on our new company F150s to mount amber strobe lights. They don’t look bad but these are work trucks so take that how you will.

I'm looking at ram mounts for something like one of those laptop desk like things to mount my CB to.

I just mounted a HAM radio in my KR. I mounted it inside the center console. After much soul searching, I did drill a hole low in the side of the console for the antenna cable. It is hidden pretty well. The cable drops straight down and goes under the carpet at the seat belt mount. Goes out through a vent in the back of the cab. A Comet antenna is mounted on the front of a roll up bed cover, and flat strap grounded to the chassis. I bought all the goodies and stared at them for months. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I used the power that was already in the console. It is now my hunting base station radio.

I have no idea how to post a picture on here, but I mounted mine standing up vertically just in front of my center seat. It's set high enough I can still use my bottom cup holders, and reach the latch button. The power is run under my pedals up high and it if the door from straight to the battery. My antenna coax runs under the driver's seat, through the frame and up onto the top of the headache rack (CM flatbed) dead center.

I LOVE having my radio back finally after 2 years without it!

Oh, I run a Galaxy 33HML

No, its a 2017 F350 Lariat that my (now ex)husband and I had custom ordered from Ford. I have the older style fold up center console/seat instead of that big *** stupid console.
Oh, ok. Thanks.
