I've been wanting to install a mechanical low oil pressure gauge on my 95, f350 so I don't have to rely on the idiot gauge that came stock with this truck. I bought a Max Tow to match the other gauges I've already installed but this is where I run into a problem. There's no way to connect into the stock sensor/switch. Has anyone installed a mechanical gauge on this year of a 7.3 and if so what brand of gauge and could you post video of the install?

Also, could these numbers I have be verified by 7.3 mechanic
7.3L Power Stroke oil pressure
Idle 10 PSI
3,300 RPM 40-70 PSI Thank You

You could always tap into the port near the oil filter. You are wanting to go full mechanical gauge with pressure tubing into the cab (vice just an electrical setup with pressure sender and wiring) correct? Cheers!

Your pressures look good. This idea there must be high oil pressure as a good thing is just so wrong.

I have a few posts that go in to detail about oil pressure and change intervals etc etc.

The oil filter port as mentioned can be a spot for it. I'd avoid the hard line to a mechanical gauge. If that line breaks or comes loose while driving and/or towing then you got real problems.

Thank you everyone for the great input. Never fails to get excellent advice here. I was wanting to go digital and the MaxTow gauge I got is just that but, it has a connector that suppose to go to the oil gallery test port, And I haven't found anything like that on my truck or from doing research on this year of truck. I will post a thumb nail of what I'm referring to.

The part that is circled in the instruction is the plug that plugs into the sending unit that should have come with the gauge, the sending unit will take the place of a plug that is mounted by your oil filter. Remove the plug and install the sending unit and wire it all up and plug it all in and you're set.

An oil pressure gauge isn't really necessary on a HEUI engine because it's a fail safe design, if the oil pressure gets to low it will starve the injection system and quit running before any damage is done. CAT designed them like mainly for construction equipment, so they wouldn't blow up when they ran low on oil.
