I?m looking at replacing my 2006 f350 which is turning into a money pit. I have found locally a certified preowned 2015 f350 6.7 with 75k miles on it. Price is decent.

1)What should I look at for known problems on these models?

2)It has a 5th wheel prep package. Is that the puck system? I can?t see the inside of the bed from the pictures.

3) It looks stock as far as I can tell. Any upgrade needed?

H&S makes an upgraded intercooler part that replaces the factory plastic one that is known to fail even on completely stock trucks. Other then that you'll enjoy it. I picked up a 14 f250 with 83k a little over two months ago and have had a few minor issues, a code saying the crank case vent was disconnected(cleared code it hasn't came back) and a DEF tank heater code(also cleared and hasn't came back yet) when it does I plan on having weight reductions performed. Just have to convince the boss that choice will make the truck more reliable when I'm driving around with the new baby that will be here in January

I did the same last year ditching my 06 F350 for a 14 F350.

If you tow, replace the cold side intercooler pipe with a metal aftermarket one. (Even if you don’t, replace it anyway)

Fifth wheel prep is the puck system.

No other upgrades “needed”. Main thing is use good fuel and make sure you are draining the water separator regularly. The fuel system is very sensitive to water and very expensive to replace.
Otherwise, be sure to exercise it to keep the dpf functioning well

if you ARE going to consider a new one, are you going to delete or anything? If so i would recommend a 15+ but not a 17. the 15+ have the better turbo and can make more power. im currently looking at getting one my self and have to make the decision. If not the 17s have all those nice and pretty cameras for backing up:thumb:

I just replaced my 03 6.0l with a 2015 Platinum & only had a chance to tow my camper once with the new truck. My camper is a 36' bumper pull weighing around 9500lbs, the new truck towed it like it wasn't there, it's a total beast for towing. The 6.7 Is a serious upgrade over a tuned 6.0l imo.

I went back & forth between buying new or used, I was mentally committed to buy a new 17 until I found my truck. A Ruby Red 2015 F-350 Platinum with the fith wheel prep & most of the optuons. The truck had 32,970 when I picked it up from a Ford dealer & I love it but it's not THAT much different than my 03 KR as far as options go. My point is, if you want tech get the 17, the options (if you're willing to pay for them) will blow your mind. If you don't care as much about the high tech features then get a 15-16, they are still amazing trucks & are the best of the old body style IMO.
