Howdy yall,

So what I wanted to do is get the middle jump seat/fold-down arm rest to recline more. The one in particular I am working with is from a 2007 6.0 Lariat. Basically the reason I figured ford put that seat there was so you could put your arm around your gal and have her a bit closer to you on those long night highway drives along with possible other activities. Anyway... Problem is the backrest doesn't recline very far back so it makes it rather uncomfortable to sit there.

I read here Front seat recline _ SOLVED that it is possible to adjust the front seats so maybe someone tackled the middle seat problem as well? Im going to take that middle seat apart one of these days see if I can't figure it out but any tips would be most welcome.

Thanks guys.

Slight update: I was reading this Can the center seat in the front be moved back a bit - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums and it gave me a good idea. I recall when I was putting the front seats back in after laying dynamat under the carpet that indeed the seat allign with a predrilled 1/2" or so hole. Drilling a couple new ones would definitely improve the leg room. So thats atleast one part covered.

The mounting holes are the same ones your front seats are mounted to. Last I looked, they're built to interface with those brackets on the front of the seat. Those bolts are also mounted on an angle. Moving the bracket to new drilled holes might be possible but I would think that wound also change the seat height.

I've been swapping my console for the jump seat for years now as my needs change. Years ago, I bought a used brown cloth jump seat out of an '06 to use in my King Ranch. It's small and my youngest (she's 10 now) is the only one that uses it. In my opinion, they weren't built to handle an adult.

I've got mine out right now. I'll take another look and re-post if I see something that might work.

This is what the bottom of your seat looks like. If it were me, I'd probably start by removing these 5 bolts and seeing if I could fabricate a bracket that would allow me to relocate those further back.

As far as the recline is concerned, I don't want to pull mine completely apart but I can tell there is at least one bolt holding the bracket on. I wonder if it also has a "keyed" pin that locks it at that angle. You may be able to adjust it there. However, I would also think that doing so there would result in a console that didn't lay flat when not in use. It looks like you'd need to remove the lower seat cushion off the frame to see that mounting point..

Yea I do recall that the brakets intertwine with each other. Im sure however it is possible to atleast slightly move it back. Im sure its fairly easy to just drill a couple of new holes in the bottom of the cab. However your take on the fact that the arm rest might not be flat is a smart observation. Going to keep that in mind.

I think that a new bracket is going to be unecessary. I think putting the middle seat with new holes directly behind the brackets holding the front seats would be the perfect distance too. Are you thinking by the way that the same pin/bolt that is holding the proper arm rest fold down height is the same pin/bolt that is holding the seat when reclined?
