I am looking into an oil cooler relocation setup and I was wondering if anyone has any recent experiences with it, and any specific issues. I am aware of the history of the product but have not heard anything lately.

I have the IPR oil cooler setup with the filter. Been performing great for 3.5 years.

The only thing I would really change about the system is I'd like to see some type of quick disconnect for the oil filter lines.

Did you have any specific questions?

Other than quick connect, any other issues? Likes dislikes, temps ok good better, worse?

I looked closely at both the IPR and BPD kits before deciding on the BPD. The IPR kit requires a different oil filter, you have to disconnect the oil lines going to the oil cap for an oil change, and there are some documented issues of the oil filter housing leaking. You also have to relocate one of the temp sensors. While the IPR does use the 6.7 oil cooler, providing greater cooling capacity, all the other issues pushed me to BPD.

The fit and finish of the BPD kit was great. It still provides plenty of cooling capacity and I get to use the stock oil filter. I threw an IPR coolant filter in-line before the oil and egr coolers and have no fear of clogging a cooler again. Bottom line, it works well and I don't have to mess with it. Now, I wish BPD would bring back the "vince" coupon code... The cooler kit is up to $1700 now.

I think that's the key to whichever kit you go with. You want to filter your coolant before the oil cooler. I made some shutoff valves to help with filter cleaning even though I hardly ever have to clean it anymore.

To clarify, you do NOT need to move any temp sensor with the IPR kit. There's a place to put an extra sensor, but both locations read the same.

Does the BPD kit use an OEM filter now?

I had heard about the oil filter leaking, and others talking about quality control issues. Have you experienced any, and have you heard of any recent issues?
As for the oil filter housing leaking, I had that happen once. You just have to re-torque the bolts on the housing. Sometimes you have to realign that entire top piece anyway. Too easy. IPR explains this in the instructions. Anything else is user error IMO.

I've had no issues with quality on mine. Been a happy camper for 70k miles. Other than the 2 extra minutes i spend on those oil filter lines every oil change.

I also run the BPD kit with a full flow coolant filter before the cooler

it has been problem free since install BPD really test their products before release

I was one of the Original to install the public release versions and they asked if there was even one improvement I could suggest

there was not one they nailed it

I was not interested in the IPR relocate and at the time they used the 6.4 cooler in the 6.0 kit so apparently their kit is making running changes ?

What would you say are the major advantages of one over the other?

Also with the changes being made over time have you heard of anyone having recent problems? I have been able to find a lot of relatively recent information on the BPD kit, but not so much on the IPR kit, and I am trying to figure out if anyone is having any kind of problems with the current model.

The explanation for the oil filter really helps. And having 70k on it as well. Do you or anyone know of anyone else currently running one?

I followed the example set by these guys, and used the BPD kit with an in line IPR coolant filter. I don’t have any real miles on mine yet but the quality and fit of the kit are great. When I had a question surrounding fitment of the kit on my truck a BPD tech called me and took a look at some txt pics to confirm things were correct. Great service from BPD.

The 2nd generation of oil filter housing eliminated the need to remove the lines to change the filter. They also sell a double stacked 6.7 cooler which works fantastic on heavy hauls.

I just know that BPD sells a lot of kits and I don't see a lot o folks with the IPR kits
I have seen some pretty ugly u tube videos about some issues on the IPR and have only seen a few trolls bash the BPD stuff and maybe a few legit issues that were resolved at lightning speed by BPD

and to be honest it was never a cut and dry as to it being a BPD issue in most cases they just step up

i do like having a full flow filter in front of my oil cooler and I wish BPD would make one i had a home made stainless y filter for a while before i bought a used IPR can filter

and machined the name off of it

The only thing I would say is better than BPD parts is their Customer Service!! If you’re like me, the only real time to fully work on it, is during the weekend. BPD is not open. I had a few things come up that I needed clarification on. The first time, I e-mails them asking my questions on a Saturday afternoon thinking the rest of my weekend was done and no more work would be done until the following weekend. A few hours later, I got an answer. They may not be open, but someone is always monitoring their e-mail and they will answer them. It allowed me to continue working on my truck.

I bought IPR's coolant relocation kit along with the coolant filter and the EGR delete in Nov '17. Have done plenty of driving on it, zero issues. Only administrative issues I had was buying the wrong parts because I wasn't sure of my build (late 04). Called Vince, didn't leave a message, but he called me back asking how he could help. That's customer service! He talked me through identifying the correct parts and he had new ones out to me same day. Towed 7k lbs about six hours and deltas never got past 10 degrees. Parts look good under the hood too. Can't find a reason to not have bought IPR yet but I also haven't dealt with BPD. I hear their stuff is high quality as well.
