Injector hold down

I just replaced injectors on my 6.0. I have the old style injector holder. I got my parts and they gave me the new style holder. My parts source said that that is what I should use. I installed the injectors and I made it about a mile and it quit on me. The truck does not start and is blowing gray smoke like I had a injector fail. My question is are the late style and new style holders interchangeable?

Guess I haven't heard of the different style hold-downs.
Imo, sounds like they didn't seal. Are you sure you cleaned out the holes, being positive you removed the old copper washers?
What did you torque them to?

I'm not positive, but i'm pretty sure they are NOT interchangeable.

The copper washers all stayed on the injectors when I pulled them out. I have worked on a 6.0 before that had a loose hold down on an injector and my symptoms are similar. I think the hold down failed. I will have to deal with this one tomorrow at work just looking for some feedback.

You don't specify your year model or what year model hold downs they gave you, but I am fairly certain there is a difference in '03-early '04 hold downs and the later models. Also, did you blow out the bolt holes to get the oil out before torquing them down?

I had this happen when I replaced my hold downs. I have an 03 and it has the torx 40, the ones I bought were the 45. They are not interchangeable and will not seal injectors properly. Your injectors will need to be resealed and use your original hold downs. If I find the Ford service Bulletin I will post it. The 03-05 used the 40, and the 06-07 used the 45 on the newer heads.

I just had this happen when I re studded and put my UCF heads on, then had to pay to tow it, pull all injectors, reseal, and use old hold downs.....
