I am going to list my 7.3 for sale, how much is it worth?

I am going to go back to a gas truck and here within the next 30days or so, I am going to be listing my 2003 F250 for sale. I am just looking to get a fair price, but I am not sure what to list it for or where to get that information. It is a 2 owner, 175k, 4x4 crew, short bed, with zero rust ,the 2006 front end conversion, 6.0 transmission conversion, RC front spring leveling kit, Firestone Onboard Airbags, and completely stock other than that.

It’s worth what other buyers are paying for similar trucks. Look up listings for these other trucks in the various publications and make your price adjustments from there. Deduct from that arrived at number, your estimate for a reasonable sale negotiation.

Yes, it does. It will probably end-up with a buyer who chops it up and puts big ole tires on it along with a 36" lift. Then he will be on the forum asking why his fuel mileage is so bad.

It's a good-looking truck with a good history. It may be a "Bring-a-trailer" candidate.

You have a beautiful truck! Definitely put it up on Bring A trailer or Cars & Bids.

I recently sold my 2000 for just shy of $5K more than I paid for it back in Feb 2000. (It only had 29,893 miles) I think I could have done better had I listed it on one of those two auctions.

I may very well regret it and I have struggled with the decision. For about 90% of the stuff I do with a truck, the 1/2 ton Tundra will work just fine. I have had 4 back surgeries and I am doing well now, but I am a little limited with what I can do. Just looking to make change to something that I don't have to work on all of the time. The Tundra is a 1-owner with only 81k and while the 7.3 trucks are dependable, it is still 21 years old and 174k miles and really just looking at overall cost of ownership and something I will not have to be working on all the time.

Ohhh, going back to gas certainly can be .... I'd be living on my CC if I had to use my diesel truck for my normal driving.

The current F-150 can tow up to 13,500 lbs. My heaviest trailer is my 12k dump, which maybe gets used on the highway once a year if that. My other trailers are 4k and 9k. For someone similar and not commercial, the newer gas trucks can make sense.

I can friggin tow my 4k with my 2012 Edge.

Most of my running to the farm 40 miles away is done with the MDX, which also can tow the 4k. In the world of yearly fuel expense, 24.1mpg @ gas price vs. 18mph @Diesel price is an easy decision.

I DD an infiniti and bmw at about 25-30 mpg. But I wouldn't trade my 250 for a gasser unless it was a 150, as I mentioned. Not enough benefit for most to downgrade a 3/4 or 1ton from diesel to gas, unless they don't like the associated maintenance costs.

…and keep the negotiation within 10% of that price. You will probably have some lookers who can’t make sense of the price but Mr. Right will come along…

I agree, it is/was a struggle to sell what is probably the best Ford truck and best engine ever built.

I miss seeing mine sitting in the garage. Usually I keep a vehicle for anywhere from a few months to 5 years, but I liked the F250 so much, I held on to it for 24 years!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I'd say expect between 15 and 25k. So... maybe list it on an auction or if you're going to sell it on marketplace or anything try... I dunno.... list it at between 20 and 30k and let people bring you down a bit. Its definitely nice but I have my reserves about paying between 1/2 and 3/4 of MSRP for a 20-25 year old truck.

A lot of people dont want to hear it but in the current market thats a 25k truck all day. Yup its old and 25k is a lot of $$$…..but they will be complaining about it because they really want THAT truck. If not they can just go pick up a brand new one and put down 5k and finance the other 80k .

I’ve been shopping 7.3s pretty hard for 18mo to replace mine. Depending on where you are, I would say it’s range is 16-25k. The premium price is for completely stock, a lot of us are weary of converted trucks since we don’t ’know the guy.’ Please send me a location and price.

To increase the number of available trucks for sale in a tight marketplace, you may want to include the 6.0 years in your search. Nothing can replace the venerable 7.3 -- except the 6.0.

Wow, I haven't visited the board in a few years. I have a 2000 F-250 4x4 long bed with the Lariat package. 255,000 miles. Stock with the exception of the tune (Super Chip Tow/ Perf). Had to repair some rusty spots and replaced the vacuum actuated hubs with manuals. I bought it used with about 80,000 miles on it and still had a little warranty. Paid about 18K for it in 2004. Glad to see they are holding their value. Rattles a little but I just turn up the radio if it bothers me. 😁 Been wondering about some modifications/modernizations. Tell me about the 6.0 transmission conversion.

It really depends on the vehicle and the market it is sold in. Mileage and rust, IMO, are the two biggest factors, but appearance is also a big emotional point.

Bring a trailer usually brings in hungry people with deep pockets. Some examples:




You can go through their past sales to compare your truck's attributes to these. These tend to be lower mileage, but I think your truck has more wow appeal than some.
