Purchased my truck new, and it now has 122,000 miles. I’m considering moving to something else just because of the age. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the truck, but 12 years has me concerned. Does 12 years concern anyone else on this 6.7? Thoughts?

I've looked at comparable used trucks in age and mileage to what I bought mine for at the time. Personally, I can stick a motor and trans in the truck, fix the bit of body rust, AND consider all the money I have in it up to this point and still be ahead. YMMV.
I'd much less concerned about the 12 years of vehicle age. Other than cab mounts I haven't seen much for rubber or wire degradation like what I think of for vehicles being "old". Parts are still all over the place and because it's the same engine platform as current trucks, aftermarket will be around for a while. I would say to enjoy your truck at your leisure.

I bought my 2011 F350 brand new in September 2010. Almost 14 years and 200,000 miles later… the truck is still running like a top. I put money in it here and there to keep it in tip top shape but it’s far less than the $1800 monthly payment of a new truck today.

If you follow the forum's carefully, you’ll see that the 2023 guys are not having much luck. 10 speed tranny issues, turbo issues, motors going early. I was at the same point a few months ago that you’re at now. But after doing some research, I figured it would be much better to stay with what I know and what’s paid for than to stray into a truck that is likely to fail me and still owe $100,000 on it.

Hang on to it. My 2011 has 159,000. Last summer, the truck/motor was freshened up with a new DCR HPFP, KC Stage 1 Turbo, BD Exhaust Manifolds, and S&B Body Mounts. Ascetically, the truck is completely stocked. It even retains the stock rims. If I could afford the same new truck, I'd be forced to start from scratch again to get the truck to where I like it.

How are you liking the DCR? Any special tuning required? How about the KC Stage 1? What’s the advantage of the new exhaust manifolds? Thanks very much. Fellow 2011 owner here with newly replaced motor and thinking about doing disaster prevention kit or the DCR pump. Once I get close to 150,000 miles on the new motor or before then to avoid the CP4 exploding like it did for me at 150,000 miles.

So I am 100% in the same boat. I bought my 2011 6.7 with 163k miles from a "salty state" and now I'm in Virginia, not salty, with 193k miles but the damage was done. My rockers are rusted out and will need to be replaced. There frame has surface rust and the cab mounts are ok. Other than that, truck is very clean, runs great, has no mechanical issues. So the question is, with what these trucks are still going for in my local market, do I just see what I can get with the body rot? Fix the body rot and then ask for $4k more? or just keep it... If I sell I could fund ALL my other projects... but I just love this truck....!!! TOO many choices!!!!???

Your call here. If you don't need the truck and can fill the void of not having it with all your other projects it might be worth selling it. If you need the truck and/or the love for your truck could never be replaced by your newly funded projects probably keep it. I can't predict if the value of your truck will hold or if prices for a replacement in the future will come down. I keep hoping something will give and prices will come down. I'm just still trying to wrap my head around an average loan term of 68 months for a vehicle and $100K trucks.
As for fixing the rust, it depends on how much it bugs you, how bad it progresses even outside of a "salty state", and how tolerant the market is for the amount of rust you have.

I have two 2011 F450’s, and both early production, like July,2010 early. Both made it over 200k before the inevitable problems associated with early 6.7 cab& chassis trucks. Both now have 2016 engines and run even better than new. My buddy bought a 2015 F550 service truck w/crane(heavy) at a recent Ritchie Bros. auction. Had new injectors, with one being loose, and another had no copper washer. Ran ok from Texas to California, but now runs great after reinstalling those two injectors. 400k miles though. These trucks will run forever with good maintenance and good fuel. Install a disaster prevention kit and sell it when you are just plain tired of it.
