I need help with determining a value on my dads truck. It’s a 2000 f250 7.3 4x4 Lariat supercab shortbed. He has owned it for 17 years and it’s always been garaged kept. Super clean no rust anywhere. New Michelin’s too. What your opinion on vlue of above mentioned truck.

Thanks in advance

Probably worth about 1k but I’ll give you 5 for it to help you out . . . Ya know, cause it’s so old. . .

Hahaha I couldn’t seriously type that and leave it. Great looking truck you have there. I’d have a hard time selling that bad boy considering the condition it appears to be in. Good luck if you actually decide to sell it, it shouldn’t last long.

25K is steep but one can ask.

He could prolly get $20k in Ohio, not many clean rust free 7.3's around, especially low mileage ones, and they get a premium.

In california, people would probably ask 15 to 20k. Not sure what they are actually getting though.

Well he listed it for $25k. We will see. It’s clean enough to eat off of. Been thinking about selling my 6.7 and buying it.

Don’t know that I would go that far. I loved my 99 7.3 but wouldn’t trade my 6.7 for it back. But that’s just me.

5 years ago a friend of mine paid $22,500 for the same truck as your dad's but a crew cab, with 25K miles from the original owner. So at the time, it was 5 years newer, but a dollar was "worth" more, so about the same value.

I don't know if it will go 25K, but at least try by leaving it on the market and getting it good exposure. 7.3's are legendary for reliability and low cost of maintaince (compared to a 6.7 or dodge) so they are sought after by end-users. Most vehicles at auction and "trade-in" values are for vehicles that are being flipped or brokered where the consideration is "can I make money selling this next week?". 7.3's are purchased to be used by the guy doing the buying. Sure, everyone likes a deal, bargain, or fire-sale price. But nice, rust free, 7.3 lariats aren't being made anymore. Hold out.

Kbb is a complete joke and basically used by the Insurance companies to pay out the least amount. $25k is way to high for a short bed ext cab, I would say $15-16k all day long with that mileage.

I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU ARE IN THE COUNTRY.....BUT THAT PRICE IS IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE.....

JUST MY OPINION.....

$12,000.00 WOULD BE MORE REALISTIC.....

You'd be surprised what people are asking, and paying for 7.3s. Extra cab 4x4s 250k miles are asking 10k in my areas.

Would I pay 25k for it? Definitely not but I don't spend that type of cash on vehicles. I bet he pulls 20k out of it if he holds out for the right buyer.

It all depends on the area you are in. If you want to go on craigslist and dealer websites and see what they are asking. I have a couple of turd blossoms that have 2000 7.3ls with under 90k asking 25k but they have renewed the ad 3 times in the past 3ish months. now they are down to 20k and the truck still isn't sold.

I paid 12k for my current 1999 when it has 120k. I would think 15-18k for that truck in MY area but could be more or less. I would put an add for say 17k and take the first close enough cash offer.

Here in WA I could see him getting 18K or so in that shape with those miles.

I have a 2000 F250 with 193K on it and it's in great shape - I like to think I could get $15k. Doesn't seem unreasonable because folks really want these trucks that haven't been hammered.

I just had a thought regarding just "who" would pay a 20K+ price for a low mileage, clean rust-free 7.3:

A guy who has previously owned a 7.3 and for whatever reason doesn't have it anymore (theft, totaled, wife took it in a divorce, etc) but still NEEDS the capability of a 7.3.
Another candidate would be a previous 7.3 owner that realized the potential, but ended up with a $7,000 POS that looks great on 35's, but leaked, shook, broke hubs, wouldn't start, trans went out, had rust problems, etc. and he said f-it and got rid of the POS. Rather than take over someone else's nightmare again, he's now looking for an un-molested original to avoid most of the issues with one that's been beat, modded and lifted. They realize the value and rarity of a low mileage original truck.

These types of buyers are out there. They will pay high dollar because they intend to keep it a long time, perhaps indefinitely. You just have to get the truck enough exposure that you will find one of these guys.

DaveP is spot on! I’m actually one of those guys that had my beloved 2000 totaled by some idiot and it took me close to a year to find almost the same exact truck and I paid a premium price for it and understand the fact that I was paying to much for it. Color, long bed, crew cab, 4x4 are all contributing factors that make finding a mint condition 7.3 that much more rare, so when you do finally find one it eases the pain somewhat of knowing your actually paying way to much for a 17+ year old truck.

I HOPE THAT WHEN IT SELLS.....THAT THE ORIGINAL POSTER TELLS US WHERE (WHAT STATE) THE TRUCK IS LOCATED AND WHAT IT ACTUALLY SOLD FOR.....

I SAW ONE IN MY AREA FOR $25,000.00 THREE YEARS AGO WITH 25,000 MILES ON IT.....I REMEMBER THINKING THAT THE PRICE SEEMED LIKE IT WAS DETERMINED BY CHARGING $1.00 PER MILE ON THE TRUCK.....:smile2:

IT LOOKED CLEAN.....OWNER STATED THAT IT HAD AN OIL LEAK.....BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT EVER SOLD.....THE AD JUST SEEMED TO DISAPPEAR.....MAYBE IT WAS A SCAM.....
