Alright I have both (black with orange stripe and yellow with white stripe) directly connected to the back of the cluster and I’m still not getting anything. For resistance I’m getting 94 ohms which is average because everyday I check it after I drive it goes down. When the engine is running I get 4.6v at the connectors. What gives?

The gauge will sweep in test mode, check
the sending unit is within the correct ohm range, check
= the anti slosh circuit is not working
you will need to send the instrument cluster out for repair
in my opinion

Any other way to verify the anti slosh circuit has gone kaput?

Not that I know
it is the only other circuitry between the gauge and the sender
so by that, I think there is the problem

the gauge is actually a stepper motor, not like the old time gauges
that part of the circuit is working via the test mode

there is one more trouble spot, but it means opening up the cluster
the terminal pin connections on the harness connectors
can break the solder joints on the board
a simple re-flow of the solder is the fix
but unless you are able to solder and have a small iron
I would leave it up to the pros

I was looking at the back and thought about pulling the protective cover so I could see if any were broke but didn’t want to tinker with something I know nothing about, also no magnifying glass 😂

Had the same thing happen in September. Was my Cluster. Sent it in to CBM and they fixed it. updgraded to LEDs with a new lense. It's like have a new truck!

If it’s the cluster, I was wanting to upgrade my cluster to the lariat one anyways. Would that work if I just bought a lariat one and had it programmed to my vin?

Circuit Board Medics can put the white background in if that is what you are wanting
I dont think you need to have it programmed, you would have the mileage from the previous life is all

Auto dim mirror and compass?
...well, I guess drivers side mirror as well

I don’t want the auto dim mirror, but the compass functionality would be nice, plus the mpg / miles to e functionality. Also planning to do the led swap.

I pulled the cluster again this afternoon and looked over it with a magnifying glass and don’t see anything irregular / broken solders.

You would need to pull the cluster apart and remove back cover off the the board, ...

this vid shows how one guy fixed his, ...he is kinda rough, but it worked

Should I just try and add some solder to each of those pins of the two wiring harness and see if that helps? [emoji23] I’m at a loss here and really don’t want to spend $200+ on getting the gauge cluster looked at.

you need a good magnifying glass and a good light
I use a jewelers loupe and a led light -- also need a small tip soldering iron

the cracks around the pins are difficult to see sometimes, you have to get the light just the right angle
yes, ...just flowing some fresh solder will work

you need to look over the whole board for damaged components and cracked solder in the other places

There was one pin that almost looked charred but it didn’t seem to be in an area that would pertain to the fuel gauge. I might try tomorrow to flow some new solder and see what happens.
