All,
I've been having a rough go of it the last few days. I have a 2016 F450XL Cab / Chassis, with a tow truck body (autoloader/wheel lift). It has 96,000 miles and is in wonderful shape. I take good care of the truck. I've never had an issue with it.
About 3 weeks ago, I started having some issues with the def fluid message that we had 500 miles to go. I filled the fluid and about a week later I get the same message again. I go back to put more def in it... but got less than a quart in because it was still full. The message disappeared, for two days, then it reappears and started counting down… till speed is limited to 50mph (limp mode). I put it on the scanner, cleared the codes (that was a mistake) had it force a regen, reset def capacity, then forced a regen again. I scanned it again, ran it a couple miles around the block. Checked for codes again, nothing came up, and I patted myself on the back for a job well done. I was using the blue driver Bluetooth scanner. I’m not very technically inclined, but use the scanner to pull codes, and find fixes and reset codes once in a while.
The next day a driver calls me midway through his shift complaining the truck is in limp mode… but not the usual 40-45 mph limp mode… he’s going single digits. Has a message on the display “engine idle, see manual.”
I got a new Autel scanner in the meantime and 4 pcm codes popped up:
P130E:00-08 – Reductant Pump A Control Circuit Intermittent / Erratic
P202E:00-08 – Reductant Injection Valve Circuit Range / Performance (Bank 1 Unit P204E:00-08 – Reductant Pressure Sensor Circuit Intermittent/Erratic
P207F:00-58 – Reductant Quality Performance
I run an active monitoring on the truck and notice that the Nox 1 2 sensor is stuck at -40. I order another one install it. Thinking that will fix the problem. It didn’t. I dumped all the def, replaced all the def. I checked the def system and everything is clean. I’m in Socal so there is no corrosion on the truck… all the sensors are clean in the exhaust. I haven’t pulled all the sensors out of the def… it’s really hard to get to them with the tow body. But the def tank looked clean when I was emptying it.
Stuck – not sure what to do… I’m stuck at 5mph. I’ve googled a bit and folks are talking about drive cycle, but all of the youtubes I watched have the drive cycle driving 40-50 and I can’t get it past 5-6. What am I doing wrong? I can attach a report if that helps.
Thank you,
Gabriel
