Headlights turn off when indicator is on...but wait there is more.

This started this morning and even has the mechanics confused.

With the lights and dash set to auto, if I turn on the left turn indicator the headlights turn off. The right side operates properly.
With the lights toggled to the manual settings, the headlights stay on when the left turn indicator.

I get to work and ask the mechanics if they have seen this before. My 2007 F350 6.0L stumped them. The Snap-On reader did not pull any error codes related to the lights. It did throw an error about my turbo which I'm aware of and have the replacement on the way. There was an error for my fan clutch as well but I knew that was going to occur when I converted to the 97 7.3L fan clutch when I replaced my water pump this past summer.

But wait there's more. On my way home with the lights to the manual position and the headlights staying on when the left turn indicator is on, my high beams will not turn on when the stalk is pushed forward. They will turn on when the stalk is pulled back for "flash to pass".

So with that said what should I be looking at to resolve this?

Your Blinker Fluid level is low -- ask your guy about it, he will know what to use

Seriously, the vehicle security module controls the auto headlight function, looking at the diagram I do not see a connection to the turn signals
unless something is robbing enough power to make the relays for the headlights drop out

Do the signal lights seem the same brightness on both sides, front and rear?

Here is a diagram for 2004, not sure if there were any changes on the light circuit

Are both sides of the blinkers the same brightness on all lights?
possible short in one of the bulbs or harness -- trailer plug

Last Spring I started experiencing odd turn signal and headlight issues. It turned out to be the turn signal combination switch.

I removed the switch and carefully took it apart. The metal traces inside had lots of oxidation and the grease inside had become contaminated with dirt and dust over the years causing a short. Brake cleaner and Q-tips got everything shiny and clean. I reassembled the switch with plenty of dielectric grease on the metal traces and other parts that had it when disassembled.

If you do decide to take your combination switch apart, move slowly and pay attention to the springs, detente balls, and other pieces inside that will come out. It took me three times to get it together correctly. The dielectric grease helped stick things in place and eased reassembly.

Good luck
