Pinion seal isn't too bad, pop the shaft off, take the pinion nut off with a big breaker bar and a deep thin walled appropriate sized socket, I don't recommend using an impact due to bearings and gear teeth being back there on the pinion. Replace the seal, use a NEW nut, torque to spec, and use loctite. If you over torque it you will ruin the bearings. If you reuse the nut, it'll probably fall off and kill your diff.
If just going to be on the pavement for a road trip this isn't a big deal. Make sure hubs are manually unlocked and transfer case in 2wd, the front shouldn't spin.

 

as with any axle leak make sure the vent tube is not blocked first
and I agree unless u need 4x4 for the whole road trip that leak in insignificant
