There was a time I would have jumped on a Fram filter, however, I had a stream of bad luck with them on my motorcycle and have taken a few apart...poor quality manufacturing.

Stick with OEM...great prices on Amazon or at Walmart.

I used Fram for 15 years on my suburban but it never had synthetic oil. My neighbor who is a Ford Mechanic told me to switch to Wix, Bosch, or stay with Mortorcraft for synthetic. He told me they are all good filters. I asked about K&N filters, he didn't have an opinion, and I've never used one.

I'm sure its like choosing an oil brand, personal preference, personal experience.

This isn't scientific by a long shot, but it is a fair representation of the quality of each MFG. I have used many a Fram in years past, but have long since quit them. My dad was a long time jobber and was told by the reps that Fram quality isn't what it used to be.

30 years ago I was a heavy equipment oiler. The company had many suppliers Fram being one of them. One day I decided to compare the filters side by side and this is what I found.
The Filter was a FORD Motorcraft FL1-A
1. The Fram PH8A had 23 pleats (folds) of filter media and a cardboard (Paper like) material, a spring at the back of the cartridge allowing the whole filter cartridge to float down for the by-pass.
2. The Champ PH8A had 27 pleats, still cardboard like and a spring loaded by-pass at the top of the filter.
3. The Ford FL1-A had 47 pleats and more of a finer paper like media, a spring valve by-pass at the top.
4. The Wix, Napa 51515, 1515 had 68 pleats with more of a coarse cloth media, a spring at the bottom and top bypass.
5. The Hastings FL115 had 72 pleats with more of a cloth fiber media with a spring loaded by-pass and back flow diaphragm.
6. The Baldwin B2 had 81 pleats with a fine (fuzzy) paper/ fiber media with spring by-pass at the bottom and top with a back flow diaphragm.
Just a personal note: The Fram had less than half the filter (surface) media then the OEM filter and only 1/4 the filter capacity of the Baldwin. Back then I purchased the NAPA (made by WIX) for the money and still prefer WIX today.
