Ahoy, Ford 6.0 and 6.4 Diesel Folks,
I have machined a Ford 6.0, 6.4 main crank seal installation tool which I have used once, and (plan to) no longer need. It is for seals with the incorporated wear sleeve.
It works just fine on both the rear crank seal, and reversed, on the front seal. You pull it with the appropriate bolts, using a caliper to keep your pull straight.
On the rear seal, you pull it tight, then remove it, install the spacer which comes with the seal, and then pull the seal to position. On the front seal, it pulls to the proper position.
To remove the old seal wear sleeve, just beat around on it with a big hammer, and a large punch. You expand the metal, and the sleeve becomes loose so that you can just slide it off with no injury to the shaft.
I'm just putting it on ebay, with a pretty good starting price, but way below the price of a commercial tool. (And less than the price for which I would make another one). You can use it, re-sell it OK, or keep it, and rent it. Your call.
Looks like no pix possible here, so pix will be on ebay -w- listing: Ford 6.0 Diesel Main crankshaft seal tool.
Enjoy /s/ Bob
