How hard is it to clean , I seem to have lost some power and think that might be the problem , any help would be appreciated

I'd like to bump this up. I have a P0299 code which I've read is quite often related to the turbo, but I've also noticed that my CTS reads "0" on exhaust backpressure. I took the EBP sensor and tube off today and cleaned them out. The reading is still at "0". I'm going to replace the sensor and see if that alleviates the issue, but I'm not sure which part number to purchase. I've come up with 4C3Z-9J460-A for an '03-'04 or 5C3Z-9J460-B for an '05-'07 on the 6.0. My dilemma comes because my truck is an '05, but the valve cover is marked '04. I'm pretty sure I remember there being a way to tell the difference in the two engine years by looking at the passenger side valve cover, but I can't remember the specifics. Can anyone tell me which part number I need or remind me how to tell?

*edit*
I just noticed while looking at photos that the 5C3Z shows a tapered bottom edge which the sensor currently in the truck definitely has, but when I reinstalled the sensor this morning it didn't thread all the way in. It threaded smoothly for about half the threads and then stopped. I'm not sure if that's normal and this is the correct sensor or if it stopped short because it's the wrong sensor and shouldn't have that edge.

I believe I've read where the CTS doesn't always read EBP properly or at all.

Depending on model year it may or may not matter, 03-04 trucks do not use EBP in power map calculations, 05-07 trucks do.

My 03 was completely blocked off and it had no affect on drivability.

You can also check your MAP sensor tube that connects to the manifold I've seen them crack and cause a loss of power.

I think the key is going to be to figure out which engine I have. I'll be back home in a few days and I'll check for the ICP sensor in the passenger side valve cover. I don't know why an '05 with a mfg date of 9/04 would have early '04 engine, but I also don't know why an '05 still has leaf springs in the front.

Hmm... That would be frustrating as I will have been chasing my tail. I used it on another '05 Excursion when I test drove that truck and it read it. It's not really relevant, but I also used it to monitor the EBP on my '08.

The sensor will only thread in about half of the threads on the sensor, do not try to tighten anymore or it will snap in half and you will need to spend $100+ on a new sensor and tap and thread the mounting plate to fix it. Ask me how I know...

That's good to know. I turned it a 1/4 turn past where it got snug. I noted the orientation of the clip of the plug when I removed it from the sensor and when I reinstalled it the clip was precisely a 1/4 turn past where it was originally.

I got home and checked the engine, the passenger side valve cover had the ICP sensor in it. With that info I ordered the 4C3Z-9J460-B, the sensor arrived today and it turns out that's the wrong sensor. It doesn't fit in the hole to even begin to thread in. Now I've ordered the 4C3Z-9J460-A and we'll hope that fixes the issue. Here a shot of the new next to the old.

That's not the part number I ordered the first time, but it looks identical to the one I received. When I searched that part number it shows the sensor having the tapered edge which is what I received and it won't fit. The existing sensor has the flat edge. I will save that link though, thank you. I'm beginning to think that even though this truck is advertised as an '05 and has the '05 front flip, it's really an '04 engine and suspension. I was using the links below for the part numbers I'm ordering:

Well... The new sensor came in and I'm still not reading any back pressure.

Hey man, did you ever figure this out?

Just got an EBP sensor from Advanced and sure enough... doesn't fit. I have an 05 truck as well. It had the flat edge sensor in it, and the sensor I received has the taper.

Not sure where to go next on this.
