I'm going to get into asking a couple quetions?
1. Will removing/disabling/turning offf, etc reduce the dirtyness of the oil? As it stands now, my oil is pitch black after a couple miles.
2. What are your thoughts on the EGR delete, i.e. Remove cooler and EGR and use block off plate, or use blocknoff plate with pass-through, or just disable the EGR?
3. If using block off plates, what are your MFG suggestions?
4. Does removing the EGR system require a tuner or can it just be removed and press on with life?
5. Lastly but off topic, I need to replace my air filter. Don't want to modify the intake. Don't want an oiled filter. Your suggestions?

I do not mind the DEF and DPF system. I can live with the small amount of money for clean urine and loss of MPG during regen. So I won't be messing with this until I become rich and my warranty is over. I just don't like the whole EGR idea. This is for a 2017 F250 XLT, 6.7L diesel, of course. Current mileage 22K.

I have read other threads. Was thinking of the S&B non oiled filter. EGR-wise, was thinking of the GDP with pass-through. If you have another filter suggestion, MFG and P/N would be helpful.

Thanks,
Barry

Youre oil be better but still turn black immediately. It's a diesel thing

I did exhaust block plates

3. If using block off plates, what are your MFG suggestions?

No limit

4. Does removing the EGR system require a tuner or can it just be removed and press on with life?

Mandatory tuning

5. Lastly but off topic, I need to replace my air filter. Don't want to modify the intake. Don't want an oiled filter. Your suggestions?

I did an afe dry drop in

Dpf is what's hard on the engine, not the other things.

I'm not sure there are any tuners that do EGR delete only tunes. There may be, but I certainly haven't heard of one.

An EGR delete will "help" keep the oil a little cleaner a little longer, but it will still turn black due to soot. Since you are stopping some of the soot from going back through the engine with an EGR delete, the oil should stay cleaner a bit longer.

Okay. Makes perfect sense. So, $200 for the block off then $1000 plus for a tuner. My plan is to do a more full delete BUT not until the warranty is over. The idea of throwing dirty air back into the engine sounds rather destructive. That was why I wanted to takle it first. The DPF sounds much less harmful. It occurs outside of and after the engine performance. I suspect it does create a bit of back pressure however, if designed correctly back pressure is useful as it keeps cold air from being sucked in through the exhaust. If the back pressure wasn't timed properly, it would effect how much exhaust fails to escape while the exhaust valve is open. Essentially this would be like an egr sysem only from the opposite side.
I don't know, right now I can't see spending that much for a tuner. For what a tuner is, it is way overpriced. Its price is definitely market driven. Maybe I'll just wait utill the egr valve/system breaks AFTER warranty. I change the oil about every 6K to 7K miles....always before the oil monitor tells me. Even with no egr I would still do the change the same. I've got 22K on the truck in 16 months and maybe spent $40 on DEF which is nothing really. I wish there was a place where I could drive in, they flash the computer to remove the egr system, then I drive out. I wish FORSCAN could do it.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but with the Tuners you have to delete the DPF as well and not just turn off the egr. At least that is how my 2012 was. Besides once you buy the Tuner and EGR delete kit you might as well as buy the full turbo back exhaust and go all the way. Also removing the egr voids your warranty too if you take it to the dealer that way or they can tell it was removed at a prior point.

N13, from what I have read on tuners available, I think you are correct. But I would think they should be different "switches" in the computer.

Edit: Heard from 2 vendors. Both state they have no tuners that cover egr delete only. So, I will have to come up with giveor take $2k. Please check the GoFund me pages. This is my only hope. :crying:

The EGR and DPF systems are somewhat inter-related on the 6.7. While it may be "possible" to turn of the EGR function and keep the DPF system working, it likely would not be all that easy to make sure everything worked as it should and it would almost certainly not be very profitable for a tune writer in general, since there wouldn't be a very large demand for that kind of tune.

As mentioned, deleting the EGR is just as much a violation of the emissions requirements as deleting the DPF. If you're gonna do it, you might as well do it all.

If you are going to install it yourself, you can get a DPF delete pipe, EGR block off plates, a tuner and tunes for not too much over $1k. That's if you go with an SCT device and single tunes. An EZ Lynk with a tune package, a turbo back exhaust and a full EGR delete will probably cost you more than $2k though.

If you are truly interested, I have a used NDash tuner I'm willing to sell. You can PM me for details.

I specifically asked about the dpf/def only delete and keeping the egr functional. It isn't possible to do one with out the other. I don't know the science behind it but yeah.

The 6.7 will cease operation if the egr or dpf is delete without off road tuning. They don't just set a light.

Well, not everyone has a propserous money tree. Feel free to donate to my go fund me page:

Thanks
Dude you can have an exhaust shop make you a delete section for prob less then 100. I bet if you paid cash probably 60.

You are already going to have the tuner.

Agreed. Except, starting at step one, I would have to buy the block off plates (+/-$200), a tuner (+/- $1100) then the exhaust. It's that damn tuner that is the issue. If I had the tuner, the block off plates and exhaust would be a no brainer. It's just that from where I am now, nothing, I'm looking at over a grand to do it. Don't have a grand. Kind like you said, it's only $100, once you get past the first $1200.

POWERSTROKESHELLBACK: Any info you could pm me would be appreciated.

Jimson: I'm at 22K miles and still under warranty. I tow 10K and could use a touch more power and a touch better gas mileage. Mostly, I want a good running motor. EPA and good running motor don't go together.
