Have you considered the Jones 5050XL? It eliminated my drone issue.

She's a big ole' girl, but fits. I'd suggest you look @ the 41" Donaldson. It's smaller, quieter, and flows better than the 50".

If this doesn't do it, through in a FTE resonator or Donaldson resonator and you'll be back to stock sounds.....

 

Thanks! The Donaldson part number is for the 4” inlet and outlet though and I have a 5” exhaust. Which Donaldson muffler are you running? I see you also have a 5” exhaust. Do you have pics? Your setup might be something I want to go with.

 

I run an FTE reasonator in mine straight to a stack. No drone at all. Sometimes drone is caused by not securing the system properly with hangers. The vibration of the whole exhaust adds a lot of reasonance or drone.

 

My FTE is a 4” in 5” out. 30” long.

Had the same problem with the added complexity of being a Screw-Cab. The 44" had to extend all the way up to where the front hanger is. I ended up going with a 20" (M090595). While not as quiet as the bigger ones, it did fit and made a big difference.

 

I bought the Donaldson M085171 with the intent to cut out the dpf and insert the muffler. Plans changed and I ended up just installing straight pipe. The factory tailpipe is still intact. I don't hear any drone at all with light acceleration and highway driving but it does get a bit loud under WOT. I think there may be a factory resonator in the tailpipe that is helping with the drone. Been deleted for about a month now. Once it warms up I may cut out a section of the straight pipe and install the muffler.
