I have an early 99 build date 5/98. The fresh air is pulled through the front of the truck through a tube not the fender. What are my intake options. thanks.
You have the updated intake. Any cold air intake will work.

12-99 is very close to the cut off date. Are you sure it is an early99? Have you checked all of the items in the first post?

pulls air through the fender, no cruise light, and only a glow plug relay hmm another hybrid? makes me wonder what hpop, turbo, and injectors i have:hehe:

Now that is interesting. Are you the original owner? if not, did the original owner do any performance mods? A lot of diesel shops tell folks to put in a new radiator, my trans guy did. The radiator was $185 including a new thermostat and thermostat cover, all installed. So it is not a big investment.

not the original owner and the previous owner did have a banks kit (exhaust, chip, gauges) installed by banks. he gave us paper work that looks to have every oil change, car wash, brake pad and everything else he bought and there is nothing in there for a radiator and he didnt mention it which i think he would have since he pointed out everything else he changed.

I will make a call to John Wood tomorrow morning. What is the actual date of MFG? It is on the driverside valve cover.

i dont know right now and the truck wont be back till tommorow. i will let you know tommorow around 2:30 probably. i do know the truck was custom ordered and picked up in 98 so is it possible he ordered it with the cooler?

It was not an option from what I have been told by the ford gurus. John will know.

the only other thing i can think of is banks did it but i dont think thats likely. he did only use the truck to tow his 11k tow box so maybe he told banks that and they did the swap. any ideas there?

one other thing, it is a california truck but it has a GPR. just one more wierd thing.

I will go update that right now, I forgot to do it. The controller is only on the 99.5 and up. Not on the early99. I was wrong when I posted the list......

ooo ok thanks for all the info. ill let you know the date as soon as possible tomorow
thanks

motor says october 6 98 and the truck says 10/98 not 12/98 like i thought. it was purchased in 12/98. i know the guy we bought it from said he didnt change the intercooler and the boost tubes say ford on them but they are 3" tubes not 2" like early 99s had.

ok i thought they meant the boost tube are 2". thanks for clearing that up:thumb:
thanks

John was busy today and could not talk. But he said it was interesting that a manual has a cooler in the radiator and the auto doesn't.

Do all manual transmissions have a fluid cooler?

no idea....everyone i know that has a psd diesel has an auto, let me know what you find out

The location of the badges can give it away. If it is on the fender then it is an early99 BUT it is not always the case. My early99 had them on the door. My build date is 11-20-98 and I know mine is an early99.
This is also where my badges were on my early 99, on the door.
