Gentlemen,

I bit the bullet and decided to do some preventative maintenance. I had the DCR conversion completed after calling S&S to confirm the pump is no longer manufactured in China.

I took the truck to CDT Automotive in Fuquay, NC and they did a fantastic job of replacing the pump. If you guys are in the Raleigh are, I highly recommend these guys. Very professional and detailed oriented.

I drove the truck and felt an immediate improvement in acceleration which concerned me over the health of the CP4. I got the CP4 home and removed the FCA to find it to be as clean as could be. That provided some much needed stress relief.

I’ve only driven the truck about 20 miles but it feels great. Next up is the KC Stage 1 turbo.

If anyone would like a gently used CP4 pump with 215,300 miles on it, PM me here. I’ll let it go for $500. 😊

It'd be a bit until I could get to it.

There's a lot to learn from actually having a pump in hand. Most of the time, when I take or cut some sort of junk part apart, it's for a larger scale project I'm working on. All sorts of existing parts and their weaknesses and what 215,000 or more miles does to them are inspiring newer designs I'm coming up with. ;)

I watched a video of S&S talking about one of their DCR beta test trucks that was running metal fuel filters. The guy apparently got an *** load of water in his fuel somehow and didn’t know it. The water rusted out his metal fuel filters terribly and sent all kinds of trash into the DCR which was still churning at that point.

S&S took the DCR apart for inspection purposes and said there was minor damage to the pump but nothing keeping it from continuing on. They reassembled the pump without changing anything and put it back on the same truck. It’s still churning today according to the video I watched.

That sold me on the DCR. A CP4 would have been destroyed just from the moisture in the fuel alone. The corrosion wouldn’t even of had time to set in.

With that said, I wonder if most guys running the DCR are still running Hotshots or any other form of additive or decided to stop. I failed to ask the S&S guys that when I was questioning their Chinese connections what they recommend.
