How would the instructions be different for a wheel that has the radio, A/C, and cruise control buttons on it?
My wheel's leather is worn enough that I'm seriously considering this upgrade.

Thanks,

Im really wanting to do this to my truck, my steering wheel is all worn out.. lol I just need to get some funds.. haha

Looks good, Rob.

Looks great!!!

My wheel is scheduled to be here tomorrow and I'm anxious to see it and get it in.

Can the OP or anyone offer some real detailed removal/install instructions or at least some tips?

For example --

How do the covers remove off the back of the steering wheel?
How do you remove and reinstall the radio/HVAC/Cruise switches?
Anything else helpful?

Adam

I recieved and installed my wheel recently from Bob.

Mine is identical to the one the OP posted about.

Feels great, looks great, and it's an OEM wheel so it fits perfect.

Things I figured out on my own:
*The plugs on the back of the steering wheel can be popped out with a little pick.
*The center nut on the steering wheel is actually a T50 Torx. Have one ready.
*You really need a two or three jaw puller, a steering wheel pulled will NOT work.
*Unplug the switches from the back once you have the wheel off, then pop them out. Work them out from the bottom first and they will pry out. There are tabs holding them in.
*Have a few zipties handy to tie the wiring onto the new wheel for a factory fit.

Thanks again Bob.

Bob, Can you do a solid black leather for an XLT truck. My current wheel is black vinyl with standard cruise control, no radio controls, no OEM leather, but I would like to upgrade...What options might I have...Sending you a PM too.

Thanks,

Mike

I can match your interior wood (if you have any) or the exterior paint color, carbon fiber or almost anything imaginable. I can do the leather on the sides in most colors as well.

Looking at the way the wood is made and the leather is pressed in around the switches, I would guess that his are over stocked Ford parts that where dumped out by Ford durring the recent resession.
There are several companies that are showing up with those right now.
The only comment I can make about them is that the wood sections are smaller and a different design than mine. I can't really say much more without actually seeing one.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for asking about mine.
Bob

I also just noticed in some of his descriptions say that they have small blemishes, and there is an up charge if you want a different color leather. They also note a 25% restock fee on returns. I do not charge restock fees and all wheels are the same price no matter what color wood or leather.
