Alrighty... Seen two of these trucks now. Both were 99's (I believe) with dually rear axles with auto transmissions and 7.3's. They were crew cab dually shortbeds and this has been running through my head since last month when I saw the first one and today when I saw the second one. Who can tell me about these trucks? I talked to the kid who owns the first one and he didn't know the history. Said he was the third or fourth owner but knew his truck was more than rare. Were these a batch of conversion trucks from a company or were they a special order option that only a few people managed to buy? If there's a better category for this please feel free to move it mod-staff. This just has me baffled and it's such an interesting thing to me. I'll find some pictures of the guys' trucks. The kid's on TikTok and the other guy is on Facebook.

EDIT: Looked up pictures and stuff and I'm seeing 7.3s, 6.0s, and 6.4s as CCSB duallys. They were a factory option but they're more or less rare. It's possible to recreate them but some claim that it's just cheaper to buy a truck that's already a CCSB dually. Still wanna know all I can about them.

Surpriser, I dont get it.

They made the 156DRW through 08/09, they were special option and I didnt think they were hard to find. You could also chop a bed and make one.

A much cooler truck is a single cab DRW.

Not much of a single cab guy. That one looks good. Did you pull part of this post from like Ford Truck Enthusiests page?

I've never understood why someone would want a short-bed dually...is it simply because there aren't many on the road (for good reason...lol)?

Were there any single cab, short bed, 7.3 Super Duties?

I've seen only a handful of 7.3 single cabs over the years. Predominantly current or former utilities or city work trucks. I don't recall ever seeing a short bed. (I tried duck-duck-go, but too many returns trying to sell me a 2024, which will never happen for a significant number of reasons.)

I don't recall if they were short beds or not but I remember back in the early 2000's there was a few regular cab duallies running around our are that were truck beds. Saw them in almost every flavor too. Guessing it was just our area though and it didn't last long before they all became crew and super cabs.

Can be good if you are a hauler with a long trailer. Makes getting into tight places easier with that showt wheel base specially if you are goose necking. Can also pull a longer trailer and not go over the 75 foot (in some areas 65 foot) combo limit.

Let's not forget the only thing Longhood knows about the 90's is what the history books tell him since he was barely born in the 00's lol

Just busting your balls young one.
