Higher flow could mean more/ larger particulate pass through. On my non race vehicles I am extremely wary of aftermarket air filters. Many manufacturers claims are twisted. Some mention 99% efficient in ISOxxx testing. Which sounds great until you look at the testing and see that test is for particulate 15 microns and larger. But it is not always that way. Increasing the surface area of a filter will also increase flow. The obvious ways are increase the pleats and/ or the size of the filter. Take the stock filter as the "standard". You can increase flow by poking holes in it with a needle (decrease filtration) or you can fabricate a hole on the back of the airbox and add a 2nd OEM filter (same filtration efficiency, more surface area/ more flow).
That is a simplified explanation. Point being, choose your filter wisely. Make sure the ISO testing is the same as against an OEM filter.
