Today as soon as my truck rolled 6200 miles my Check Coolant light came on on the dash. It's good. How do I turn it off?

I suggest you add a signature to your profile, so everyone knows what truck you have...it's hard to answer without that info...because it changes the answer based on what you own.

Do you not have your owner's manual? It's in there...on my truck the reset is in the settings on the dash...under maintenance or vehicle, can't remember without going outside.

Thanks for the suggestion. I added a signature. I do have my owners manual. I was honestly hoping to engage in discussion with the other users. That and I've already had a shower and didn't want to go back outside. HAHA

Was it check coolant or check coolant additive? Additive light is suppose to come on about every 12,000 to remind you to have it tested.

It was the additive light. It came on this morning at exactly 6200 miles. What do you mean have it tested?

The coolant used in the 6.7L contains additives that protect the aluminum in the engine, and there are special test strips from Acustrip/Rotunda that will give you a go or no-go on the additive levels. If the additive level is low, you can add "Diesel Supplemental Coolant Additive" up to TWO times, and then the coolant must be replaced.

Look under the 6.7L section of this official Ford document on Page 2:

I got my test strips directly from Acustrip, the company that makes them for Ford.

Ford Rotunda 328-071ELC

A box of 10 tests might sound like a lot, but it's not. You need to test both coolant systems (there are two on the 6.7L, a low-temp and a high-temp coolant loop) so it's really only 5 sets of tests, at 15K mile intervals a box will last you 75K miles.

Then why did my truck throw that message at me at 6200 miles? :dunno:

*Edit* It's either 15k miles OR 600 engine hours. I idle a lot at work, so I've already hit 600 engine hours.

Do you do a lot of idling? Could just be a hiccup in computer but if you only have 6200 on it I would make ford check it out an try to get ford to do the test for you for free.

That's probably why it tripped at 6200 miles bet it's got an hour meter and or miles which ever comes first but most of us hit miles.

12 hours a day of idling? Wow, that's a lot. Every hour of idle is equivalent to 20 miles driven, give or take. High-idle is even more. I'm curious when your first oil change occurred, if the oil minder system in the truck compensated for the extended idling.

No doubt, everything you do maintenance-wise will be accelerated on your truck due to the idle, and the oil change, coolant intervals, etc. are all going to happen a lot more frequently than if you simply drove the truck and shut it down when you arrive at your destination.

I don't THINK that the computer compensated for my idling time. I did my first oil change at 48** miles. I plan to keep my oil changes in the 5000 mile range.

Quick question, I plan to stay with MotorCraft oil and filters, but my truck suggests two oil weights. Which do y'all suggest due to my high idling? Keep in mind I drive an average of 1000 miles a week also. I sorta LIVE in my truck. Pillow and blanket and enough snacks to restock a 7/11 if that gives you any indication.

I either run Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 or Rotella T6 5W-40 in mine, and change it when the oil minder says to (usually about 7500 miles). It got way down into the single digits this past Winter, so I think the 5W-40 is the best choice for me. If you stay in TX year-round, I'd probably run the Motorcraft 10W-30.

I bought my truck new...106,000 miles right now. Stock until 100K...then I deleted and tuned. I installed the upfitter high idle potentiometer mod on mine, to help with idle abuse (I also idle frequently, but not to the extreme you do...I idle about 1 hour per day, broken up into several sessions). I've been running Castrol Tection Extra 15W40 since I purchased the truck. My manual states to use 5W40 or 15W40 if you have extreme conditions...idle, hot Texas sun, hauling & towing...that's what put me to the 15W40. If you want to run synthetic, 5W40 is your best bet. I prefer synthetics, but I keep 15W40 for my work rigs, so it just made more sense for me to use the same oil...and it gets changed frequently.

Mind sharing a little more info with me about that upfitter high idle mod? Sounds like something I'd be interested in.
