Has anyone here made the trek to Mesa Arizona to have BPD and got their level 3 install? I am thinking of making a vacation out it. Just curious if it's worth the drive or get it done cheaper somewhere in the Reno or Sacramento area? If so any shops you guys recommend?

I have not had a level 3 but I am looking in to heads and gaskets over there
but I had a transmission issue that popped up

if you can get it here for the work that's the way to do it IMO

the shop is awesome the people are awesome and the skill set is top notch

their new shop is sooooo great and friggin huge

but any BPD "approved" shop should get you done just fine

. Do your own homework. Each of our preferred installers are independent repair facilities.

Especially for people who aren't used to the heat. Listen to me talking like I know what I'm saying!?!?! I work in an office all day! :D
Says the guy who doesn't want colder a/c...

Our technicians probably do the best 6.0 repair work in the world. True artists. They are not paid by commission or flat rate. They are paid to be the best. Every bolt in every hole, every time. No excuses or exceptions. But I'm biased.

I'm not sure what a Level 3 is. Is that like a stage 5 clinger? :hehe:

I've had a BUNCH of work done there and it's top notch! Since I'm local, it's only a 52 mile drive to take my truck(s) to the shop and it's the only place I trust! I'm not sure when you were thinking, but NOW isn't the time to be vacationing in Phoenix! It's going to be 118-120* this weekend! Consider doing it in Fall or Winter.

Good to see ATC was taken off your preferred installers list..

I got the Level 3 done there. Top notch work. They also worked with me to store there for a few weeks in their walled, locked yard. Not all shops are big enough to store a vehicle. I live an hour away from them, but the time I had them do the work on the truck, I was gone for 10 months a year and my truck would not drive. I made an appointment, had it towed to their shop, the same month the work was done, and when I made it home a few weeks later, I picked the truck up. Although I don't use any tunes, with the head work that goes with level 3, I'm confident that the truck is ready for some tunes.

They also fixed a shimmying from the brakes. I had wanted to install slotted, drilled rotors, but they talked me into OEM, so they did not oversell me. There's also a period of around a 200 mile test drive BPD accomplished to make sure its right when you pick it up.

If you want to fly, the shop is about a 30 minute ride from the airport. For the 118 degree weather, that is only local, so within a 2 hour drive to Flagstaff, you can be in the high 80s with the higher elevation. The highlight was getting a tour of the facility to see where the magic happened.

The only other place I would think of driving that far is located on the East Coast, and that place's customer service is not so good. That would be the name not to be mentioned without derailing the thread.

I've never had any work done there but I have installed a lot of Their parts on my truck, and I would bet their service department is just as good as their products and customer service. If I didn't live 18 hours away I wouldn't hesitate to let them work on my truck.

good to know. from here any semi local option is a good thing
reno sparks only place I know of that is worth considering is dynamic diesel.
near sacramento folsom lake ford has a guy Mark who is excellent.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I think I already knew the answer just a matter if it was worth the 12 hour drive. Anything from my list you guys think I should add while they are in there?
IF i had the time and money i would LOVE to make a trip to BPD to have them go through my tuck. I know their parts and service are second to none. I would assume they would show the same care and attention to detail in their service department :thumb:
people of excellence tend to express same in most if not all aspects of their lives

Maybe Dieselfab67 could give some input but I believe it's about $10,500. Not sure what all is included but I think head studs, oil cooler and egr cooler. Dieselfab67 could you give a complete breakdown of what all is included please?

He's out of town right now, but may still get on at some point.
If it involves head work I'm sure they'll lift the cab.

They do lift the cab. I remember getting a tour of the shop and they lifted the cab. They also have an on site machine shop.

If you call them up, they'll give you the price. I think I may have gotten an initial price off e-mail. I was somewhere where it was nearly impossible to call, but if you can please call.

There's a bunch of options with Level III, and whatever you have done will change the price. I can't remember specifics, but there is two different Air Cooled Oil coolers to install and two different filtration systems. Unlike most shops you call, provided you call during business hours, you will get someone knowledgeable. Also, van, ex can change pricing.

Edit: The oil cooler is level 2. Level 3 is oil cooler plus head work and more. There's more that can happen with level 3 engine work, so it is pricey.
