Not all trucks have a block heater. If your truck has the supplemental heater, it will have a block heater. Ford did a really good job hiding the cord. It was tucked way up in the bumper (passenger side) and held in place with a metal clip.

While they are nice to have, they are not needed until you approach the -teens. I think Ford recommends like -10f but you can go lower. I have no issuse at 0. Might want to get the 15w40 out of the crankcase if that's what you use. 5 0r 10w is fine.

Ok I will have to look closer when I get a chance. I did not see it right in front like my old 7.3 so I was wondering, and I should be good on temps if thats the case then because I wouldn't think colder than the teens probably.

Well I went up there and no problems, lowest temp was about 20 and the only difference was when i would remote start it was the glow plugs actually took 5-10 seconds before it would crank. I have never seen that in FL lol

lol, you southern boys make me laugh.

As stated above, block heaters are not standard equipment. When I ordered mine I paid $100 to have Ford install it at the factory during its build process.

Anywho, I only plug mine in when it gets 10F or colder out at night. I have a heavy duty timer set to come on 2-4 hours prior to first fire of the morning. Its normally set at 2 hours unless we get a real cold snap of -30F or colder, then I let it run for 4 hours.

-30......HELL NO
I didnt want to be outside too much in 20 with the wind and snow....
Hell the mountain was closed alot of places due to weather it said, I would hate to see what that temp made businesses do lol

coldest i have braved was -41F back in that polar vortex year.

I wore snowmobile boots, bibs and two sweatshirts. I also, rocked the big buddy heater in the cab of the truck to get by. Man that was good time. It was so cold, the 04 Ford 6.0 I had at the time leaked coolant out of the upper and lower rad hose cause it shrunk so much.

At night I thought my house was going to explode, it was cracking and groaning like you wouldn't believe. I was just sitting there nail biting hoping my water or septic tank didn't freeze solid.

ahhhh, good times it was.
